rhaig 0 #7 June 24, 2013 do a little MORE research and you'll see that several states have "State Guard" organizations (not National Guard) which are not under the authority of the federal government, but only the state government. At least for the TX State Guard, these are not trigger pullers, they do not qualify with weapons, they do not deploy with weapons. I wouldn't qualify them as a state defense force at all.-- Rob

rhaig 0 #11 June 24, 2013 SkyradWhat do these State guard do? depends on the unit. I have a friend who was in a local TX SG unit. They trained for swift water rescue, crowd control, emergency aid, setting up field hospitals (other TX SG units are medical units with volunteer doctors and nurses). To put in generally, they train for disaster response and relief. In the wildfires we had here a while back they deployed for cleanup, manage donation stations, work search & recovery, work brush cutting lines for prevention.-- Rob

Define weapon. There are plenty of different militias out there. Some governed by their respective state and others not. Some engage in military type exercises and some do not. ChrisD 0 #17 June 26, 2013 Actually the fed did serve notice to many states over the pot issue. The Executive Office by the way does not have the power to "serve" any state. All yo have to do is get to the part: "Obama did..." to realize the shit hole that someone stepped into. As far as "State's" power to form Militia, this has been going on since 1775. It was the states milita that formed the Contenential Congress and formed this country. It was the States rights and militia that was at the heart of the Civil war. States milita is a fundamental part of Americka, good luck getting rid of this one.... Somebody please explain to me what is a " National Security letter? Jeepers this is better than the spam about penis size and I've won a million dollars, if only you will act as my agent....
