lawrocket 3 #1 August 12, 2013 You get a Marine Osprey manifested to carry the President's dog and dedicated dog security. DanG 1 #5 August 12, 2013 Really good reporting, since later in the same article they show a picture of the dog being led away from AF1 with the caption, "Ready to run: Bo, President Barack Obama's dog arrived with the first family in Martha's Vineyard for the President's vacation" I call BS on the whole story. - Dan G

SkyDekker 1,465 #7 August 12, 2013 QuoteSeriously. Could the President have chosen a more greenhouse-emitting way of getting Bo to Martha's Vineyard? How exactly do you know the flight was made for the dog? Maybe the dog was put on the flight, since the flight had to be made anyways?
lawrocket 3 #8 August 12, 2013 Apparently, the Osprey was not only used to transport the dog, but Secret Service agents and a few White House staffers. So it was more than just the dog. The story wasn't bullshit. Didn't tell the whole story. My thing was - why are they using Ospreys? I am certainly hoping that there was some cross-training associated with it because I understand those birds are expensive to operate. My wife is hotter than your wife. That's a whole different issue than, "The President uses taxpayer money to fly his dog around with a dedicated security team." I've noticed that just about everything out of the Daily Mail does not stand up to even a basic level of scrutiny. - Dan G
lawrocket 3 #10 August 12, 2013 Admittedly - as I clarified after looking further it is neither "BS" as you thought it would be nor was it "all the facts." I will stand behind this: an Osprey isn't exactly the most efficient way to transport a dog. Or really much of anything in a non-tactical setting. Then again, perhaps the President viewed the dog as expendable: the Osprey has a checkered safety record (one had a problem and made an emergency landing here in Fresno a few months ago). :oP My wife is hotter than your wife. You think the president is the one arranging what flies where and with whom inside it? I bet its a bit more likely they say, "go get on this or go get on that Mr President, oh yea and don't worry we got the dog coming as well."

rhaig 0 #21 August 12, 2013 no really... I don't expect that Obama would be involved in the details of logistics of movements of government equipment and personnel (including a dog), but I was looking for an opinion on where should the buck stop? Bush is blamed for everything that happened under his administration even when it was so far down the chain of command that it's quite absurd. I wouldn't blame the president for something like this unless there was a written order uncovered where he said "I don't care if it's just the dog on the flight, make the damn flight" but there isn't. and do you scoff AT me, or in my general direction?-- Rob

lawrocket 3 #25 August 12, 2013 [Reply]ou think the president is the one arranging what flies where and with whom inside it? Nope. I don't think he arranged it. But he's the boss of the people who did. That's the thing about being at the top. It rolls uphill. It's part of doing the job, ain't it? He doesn't know the inner workings of the FISA court, either. His people do, though, and he's the top policymaker. Think Ken Lay knew all that was going on at Enron? My wife is hotter than your wife.
