turtlespeed 220 #4 September 6, 2013 DanGWhile it's a tragedy, do you think the outcome would have been any different if CPS didn't exist? In its bullshit form as it is, yes. If the people responsible were actually held accountable, yes. I think that the agents involved should be standing trial beside her.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

Now you want to make government agents responsible for the personal choices of a mother? In any case I agree with you on accountability. I don't know the specifics of CPS but we had several cases severe child neglect in Germany. Children starved to death and the "Jugendamt" the equivalent of CPS was ridiculed. It was found to be terribly underfunded and understaffed. I guess where agencies are underfunded and understaffed mistakes will happen. Clearly the system is broken and thats where you have start improvement.

wmw999 2,447 #7 September 6, 2013 Sounds like CPS dropped the ball. Of course, they also get slammed for removing children from "loving parents," and sending them to (often worse) foster homes. It's a tough job. I've done it, I had no really awful cases, and it was a tough job. It is absolutely guaranteed that you can't get it right all the time, because with some situations there is no right answer. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. Quotetoxic breast milk containing a lethal cocktail of methadone and Xanax Those are both legal drugs, methadone is a heroine substitute used for addiction therapy. Xanax is a prescription anti anxiety medicine.

chedlin 0 #10 September 7, 2013 It sounds like this went on a long time and that they were monitoring the baby's levels at some point. I do wonder what the doses were, and what the true story is. Neither Opiates nor Xanax completely preclude breast feeding. On the other hand, this women was an addict, and that certainly changes the equation.
