Say you were on the jury...even if it makes you feel like a hero to say he's guilty despite the law, the rest of the jury knows the law and follows it...hung jury and Zimmerman walks anyways. Nice try though.

Pretty good chance the special DA would retry the case. When you consider how badly they fucked up in presenting their flimsy case, I think they would have loved to have gotten a hung jury so they could get a do over.

Agreed.

******So you are claiming the judge would have thrown out a guilty verdict?

if it stemmed from people like you ignoring the law because you don't like it or understand it, yes.

Correct me if I am wrong please.

But I don't believe I have to give a list of reasons why I vote a certain way on a jury.

Does the judge ask jurors to explain why they voted the way they did?

You would never be allowed on a jury. You have proven time and again that you have no respect for the law, and can't follow evidence or jury instructions.
If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead.

I read the jury instructions in this case.

Nothing in them would have made a guilty vote invalid.

Please point out the parts the judge would note were disregarded if the jury would have come back hung or with a conviction.

It's pure nonsense to say the judge would just throw out a guilty verdict in this case.

The jury could have convicted him, and he would be sitting in jail while his expensive defense team paid for by you guys works on his appeals.

That's not what I said. What I said was you would never pass jury selection. Unless you out and out lied during the selection. And even if you did, and got on the jury, your's is only one vote. So a conviction wouldn't have happened, only a hung jury.

And no one said so. You seemed to have lost track of the conversation. We were talking about what would happen if you tried to impose your nonsensical ideas of the justice system in hypothetical case with no evidence.

sheesh, you keep coming up with more reasons not to take you remotely seriously. Are you not a citizen, or are you not a 'citizen?'

Having not participated in the last 3 Presidential elections, along with many more house and senate races, you lost any standing to complain about gun policy in America, or about how the Supreme Court ruled on anything in the past decade.

At least you agree the case was flimsy
The DA had little to nothing
THe jury got it right
you are wrong

I get the feeling he's been called for jury duty before.
Then was handed the jury nullification crap by those crazy people trying to overthrow the legal system or whatever nonsense it is they are up to. Then believed what he read.

I think I heard a few people disqualified when I was there simply for reading those pamphlets.

Ya know, I think he was dead fucking wrong in the TM case. I really do. I also think he's unequipped to deal with the aftermath of major negative and major positive notoriety from that, and is taking it out on whoever and whatever is closest. Few people are equipped for that.

He needs therapy more than he needs jail.

I disagree. If what he did would normally result in jail time for someone, then he "needs" jail time. No special treatment. Lots of people make bad decisions due to external stress that land them in jail.

ETA, what I'm saying is that he needs to be held accountable for his actions. Not holding him just as accountable as anyone else is just reinforcing his negative behavior.

He should seriously consider therapy as well.

Precisely. There are people who want to excuse him, and there are people who want to immediately convict him, based on their feelings about the shooting. This was particularly evident with all of the events around his wife filing for divorce and using the press to her advantage. It was best to wait a day and let the facts all come out before making a conclusion.

If he's beating his pregnant girlfriend, then the state of Florida needs to punish accordingly. And yes, unfortunately for him, that likely means no more carry permit, and if warranted, no guns at all.

We have no clue at this point what, if anything, he's done.
He's been accused.

I think Wendy has a lot of good comment in her reply.

I think both were in the wrong in the big case, I don't think there was evidence to do anything other than what was done.

DV cases are really tough to deal with.
He very well may have smacked her.
He very well may not have smacked her.

I do know in FL, once a DV assault charge is issued, one MUST surrender the CWP, the state can also require any owned weapons to be removed from your home. Banned from touching them until case is settled and dependent upon the results of course.

Don't mean to speak for Bill, just wanted to answer. He should get the same consideration as anyone else accused of the same crime...

The more that I think about how it should be handled, the harder it sounds to handle it. Hard to find an objective jury. Hard to keep him safe in jail...

He's kind of a one-off. Our court system should be centered on not subjecting anyone to undue punishment. It's a hard one.

It already looks like the new girlfriend isn't cooperating with cops as they are in process of trying to get a search warrant for the home as there were no weapons found at the incident.
Odds are he will get a bond, like most do.

This is a long way from jail outside of the initial arrest.
In fact, given his clean record, this most likely ends up reduced to probation and counseling. Like most domestic cases here with a non cooperating victim.

It's ironic that more than one of the regular posters here claim that GZ saved us all from the mayhem that TM was certainly going to unleash one day upon society.

What else needs to be said about a guy who has had three different women accuse him of violence and who also shot and killed a child.

He's a pussy.

Still sticking to the narrative where TM was the physically inferior participant in the fight? Child, my ass.

I'll wait till the dust clears again. The last time a woman accused him of threatening with a gun, it turned out to be a false claim. This time around, the gun (shotgun this time) is no where to be found? WTF? Hopefully sufficient evidence emerges to accurately describe the events.

There is, otoh, enough evidence to say you shouldn't date the guy.

Fair enough.

As someone who was falsely accused of DV, NOT arrested, NO charges filed, cops laughing, she claimed I stepped on her foot.

It only took me a year and about $11,000 to get it dismissed.

It is a very easily manipulated system by those wishing to.

Or he was justified in the TM case and all the crap thrown at him messed with his head. Spike Lee attempted to tweet his address to people who wanted to kill him.

Not claiming he is a choirboy.... But his current actions do not mean he was not justified in shooting a guy that was trying to kill him.

No disagreement. The question is what caused him to get to this point... Ignoring the pressure put on him by the trial and the public opinion against him has to be considered a factor.

I am not sure any person would be sane after what he went through.
