kallend 2,027 #77 September 16, 2013 PiLFy ****** Let me know when you stop being more of a moocher as most. Fail. I pay more towards running the government than most. In fact, based on IRS data, more than about 95% of Americans and some six times the national average. And I approve my tax dollars going to research on obesity. I call Bullshit. More than 95% of Americans? Your last name isn't Rockefeller ... You do have the detached demeanor of someone who was handed too much in life, though. If Life hadn't handed you so much. You'd be a lot more particular in how the Government pisses it all away. Sure. Grew up in a working class suburb. Neither parent had finished high school. Didn't inherit anything. Got through college on merit scholarships, and been employed every day of my life since the day I graduated. Never asked for government assistance. And I pay my taxes without whining. On checking the numbers it looks like I pay more federal tax than 95% of WORKING Americans, or about 98% of all Americans. Yep, handed it all on a plate, just like my buddy Rockefeller. And I pay my taxes without whining even though my overall tax rate is higher than that of Mitt Romney or Warren Buffett.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. It's because the Über-rich like Buffet have so many tax tricks given to them by the Govt. I'd never seen a chart like the link you posted. Ninety fifth Percentile w/only a little over $100K? That doesn't sound right. My area is chock full of People making those numbers. Jealous of high Earners? No, You're wrong there, too. I work w/Doctors that can buy & sell you & your entire family... I've been in Nursing for almost twenty years, now. I've noticed something over those years. Some Physicians appreciate the incredible good fortune that they've had in life. They want to give back to People. They're good People. I sometimes find myself humbled by their altruism. They're well-grounded, & a pleasure to be around. Then... there's the other side of the coin. Your side of the tracks, Kallend. I see Physicians who refuse to acknowledge just how lucky they were in Life's lottery. Who would never admit just how easily something could've gone wrong, & derailed their futures. They become highly cynical, intolerant, & pessimistic. Them, I don't admire one iota... You're making $100K a year? Congratulations. From the content of all the posts I've seen of yours. I don't view you as a "High Achiever". Apparently you weren't in that group." I worked 2-3 jobs at a time, while taking classes. That continued for the seven years it took to get my BS Degree. I can count the number of classes that I didn't get an A in, on one hand. In each case, it was because I had to choose between getting a couple hours of desperately needed sleep, or putting that time to more thoroughly writing a paper or something. There are MANY more People just like myself who truly earned merit scholarships, but didn't get any. My BS Degree is heavy in the sciences. They would've wanted me. If you're referring to some elite Schools for trust fund babies? I wouldn't have wanted THEM. "Most unlikely - my wife is an MD. (That's a DOCTOR, you know)." "You are sadly misinformed to the point of being clueless." So what? I hope your Wife is the same kind of person you are. Otherwise, I'd feel sorry for her. I don't live in the sticks. Doctors I'm friendly with have discussed finances enough for me to understand their earnings. I know the kind of money they make. "Nope. Lousy guess. I am a full professor and Associate Dean of Engineering." There You go again, measuring Life's only worth as being how many of those zeroes someone has... Only an Associate Dean, huh? Come back when YOU achieve something. "Your jealousy is more and more apparent with every post you make. Come back and criticize when you've actually achieved something in life." It's not jealousy. I'm happy when good people put in hard work, & reap the rewards. It's the gross wasting of resources on bad people that I detest. Just because I don't have as many zeroes after my name. That doesn't mean I haven't achieved much in life. You show your true colors loud & clear in every post. I hate to burst your bubble, but you're NOT under my skin.
