In the US you can pet the cute pigs and cows, then later eat them.

In Japan you can pet the cute dolphins and later eat them.

In both cases you have the same standard - animals which are touted as cute friendly animals for your kids to pet are later slaughtered and eaten.

An example of a "double standard" would be the Japanese government saying "It's against the law to eat dolphin because they are so intelligent! Unless it's at a park, then it's OK."

(All countries have different things available in restaurants; that's not a double standard.)

I agree, petting and then eating dolphins isn't cool.

Neither is petting and then eating cows.

But I love steak, so no more cow petting, just cow eating.
