funjumper101 15 #26 December 19, 2013 RonD1120***You do know the first amendment is not relevant here don't you? Of course it is. Robertson expressed his opinion in a magazine interview. What a clear example of the utter ignorance of the right wing conservatives. The first amendment does not apply. How is your practicing Socialism working out for you, Ron? Have you opted out of Social Security and Medicare due to your professed hatred of Socialism? Or are you still a hypocrite that supposedly despises Socialism, while partaking of benefits from the most Socialistic programs that the USA administers? I am betting that you still take the benefits, and still pretend to hate Socialism, except when you directly benefit from the Social Security and Medicare. You do know that when the Republicans talk about "reducing entitlements", that is their codespeak for Social Security and Medicare benefit reduction/elimination. I am sure that you will be 100% behind their efforts, right up until your benefits are cut. Then you'll be whining real loudly about the evils of the MSM and Liberals, while supporting the Republicans/Teabaggers whose policies cost you directly. How the hell can I judge you or make assumptions about you or make snide jabs? the only things I know are comments and conversations and some idea about how you act around others as an individual. One can't work with that kind of stuff - it's not easily put into pre-judged buckets of indoctrination. wait.......I think you are an American, so I can at least belittle you for those things......whatever the hell those are ... rickjump1 0 #37 December 19, 2013 Ron has probably been paying into the Social Security Fund before he left high school. Why shouldn't he draw it? If given a choice, I'm sure he could have wisely invested it elsewhere, but the fund has been robbed since Lyndon Baines Johnson was President. Yep, it's forced socialism, redistribution of wealth, or whatever you want to call it. I want my unemployment insurance back and all my Medicare I paid in. I planned my future without socialism. Zach 0 #40 December 19, 2013 lawrocketI find it so interesting how a guy can say something about not liking homosexuals. This is countered by calling him white trash, etc. Kind of a "how dare that redneck cracker white trash peckerwood view someone as beneath him?" Let's all hate him because he's so intolerant. Let's despise his view of a class of people by stating how much we despise a group of people. Isn't there a difference between "hating" blacks/whites/homosexuals - things beyond anyone's control, and "hating" ignorant/bigoted/racist people - things well in people's control to change? I would argue "I hate you because you're gay" does not equal "I hate you because you're a bigot." Am I off the mark? Zach

Which is why I pointed to those calling him a redneck or white trash. Bigotry in the name of anti-bigotry. Hey, call the guy a bigot. A racist. A homophobe. Sure, it's being intolerant, but it's not racist. Saying it's a redneck being a redneck implies that there is something innate about racism. "Hey. They guy's a redneck. Born that way. What do you expect?" It turns the subject from the person's beliefs to the person's race. As you said, it's not something that anybody has a choice about. My wife is hotter than your wife. As you said, it's not something that anybody has a choice about. my take is that if we are supposed to be so high and mighty and tolerant, then the name calling is counterproductive and indicative of similar ingrained biases. Essentially just one more demographic looking to manufacture a self superior attitude. if it was true and sincere, then they'd start a productive dialogue, not just get outraged and start vilifying before understanding - in otherwords, be the better persons they claim to be rather than demonstrating they are just as petty by using a different set of slurs ... quade 4 #43 December 19, 2013 Anyone who works for any private company doesn't have unlimited "free speech." That isn't a recent development. I'm not defending it, I'm saying it like it is. To a certain extent, I can even understand it though. Millions of dollars are invested and hundreds of people's jobs depend upon the reputation associated with the business. Say something stupid to put that investment at risk by alienating the clients and the boss is going to think twice about keeping you around. I should probably do a bit of research here on the names of people who believe A&E's actions here are outrageous, yet wanted Bob Costas' head on a pike for mentioning gun control. I should probably also do another hypocrite check for the Dixie Chicks threads.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

lawrocket 3 #46 December 19, 2013 [Quote] they'd start a productive dialogue, not just get outraged and start vilifying before understanding - in otherwords Oh, agree. But this is political, and "understanding" and constructive dialogue are counterproductive to the goal of fucking up the other side and painting them as nasty. Example: John Podesta called the GOP a "cult worthy of Jonestown." Yeah - tell that to Leo Ryan's kids. Or the other 900 dead. This is, of course, a completely ridiculous statement. Podesta said it was "snark." No. That's not "snark." But there is, no doubt, a significant part of Podesta that actually believes it. It's a lot more fun to compare the GOP to the gulad of a commie despot mass murderer (I'm holding back on my thoughts of Jim Jones) than to address concerns. Easier, too. It appears he forgot people could read interviews once they're published. /sigh. I don't think he forgot. I don't think he is anxious about it. A friend of mine did some research. Quote Duck calls, the product that made them millionaires, is still the Robertson family's true moneymaker. Last year, they sold 60,000 of their Duck Commander callers. This year, they are projected to sell over 750,000, and at an average price of $59.72 (they range from $19.95 to $179.95), they are set to make—wait for it—$44,790,000 on their duck calls in 2013! No telling what they will make in 2014. With their recent pay raise, the 20-person cast will be making over $200,000 per episode! At seven episodes a season, that means they'll rake in a whopping $1.4 million for season four! That’s .0000031% of what they earn from their duck calls. Now divide that among 20 people. Long story short – the Robertson family does not need A&E. And, Glenn Beck has offered them a place on the Blaze TV.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit.
