Chris Christie knew about bridge closure details

Recommended Posts

Sigh
I guess I'm just not that self righteous.
Please don't take offense. Hate me or like me!
When I heard about it I laughed and thought DANG that's a good one!
That it still makes the news amazes me. If Christie knew "so what" someone's lost their job over it so move on people !!
Really?? A bridge closing is this big a deal?? With everything else that's gone on?? Give me a break.

And again please don't take offense, this isn't directed at anyone personally but at the whole situation.
No matter how slowly you say oranges it never sounds like gullible.
Believe me I tried.

We would also be re-routed.

You can't be re-routed across the GWB. This impacted a lot of people for 3 days. The Port Authority has proven itself to be a cesspool. I really don't think Christie was aware of this, and he has cleaned house in a big way.

Then if that EMS crew can't be detoured then another one is called from another area. It happens all the time. No biggie.

Let's hope it's not you or your loved ones in cardiac arrest who are delayed by having to call an EMS crew from farther away than necessary because some politician is having a hissy-fit.

I think your attitude is pathetic and shameful.

One last time here.... Have you ever been to NYC, and tried to cross the GWB? It is a major thorough fare, and it being closed impacts an enormous number of people, literally 100,000s if not more. So, yes, closing the GWB was a very big deal.

I work EMS.
So your saying that there wouldn't be a closer EMS crew then the one that had to cross that bridge to respond?? If that's the case THATS what I would be angry about.
Also are you saying this is the only time there's been grid lock? Oh please.
The thing is the dispatcher could have code greened them and had another crew respond the minute they knew of the grid lock.
No I'm not familiar with the area but I highly doubt that the only crew available was one that had to cross that bridge.
BUT, I will do a little research on how many crews are in that area and the distance between them and the calls.
May take me a little to find it.

That's where you are wrong. It had nothing to do with EMS having to cross a bridge. EMS would not be crossing a bridge because then they would be going to or coming from NY to attend to a problem in NJ.
The lane closures on the NJ side of the bridge affected local traffic to the point where it was a standstill. It wasn't about bridge traffic, it was about everyone trying to get on to the bridge and spilling out into local streets. Then you get people who try to take shortcuts and back ways which fill up the secondary streets

You couldn't just reroute another EMS from a different location because they still would have to go thru the local traffic jam to get to the person in need of medical attention.

I really don't think Christie was aware of this, and he has cleaned house in a big way.

This happened under his watch; if the tenor in his organization led to thoughts that this might be acceptable, then his organization needs to change.

That kind of thing comes from above. If one person only were involved, it'd be much easier to say it was an isolated incident. But there was collusion, by longtime associates.

It's not the end of the world, and I even think that Christie is capable of learning from this (I hope he does). But getting caught by outsiders shouldn't be the only thing that concerns his folks; it's getting busted by insiders who don't want their organization sullied.

Who really cares?? So what if someone was late to an event. I mean dang!!! Burn me alive, I thought it was funny myself.

yeah, it's real funny having kids sit in a bus instead of being in class, or having ambulances not show up on time. And it's even funnier when people lose wages or their job because they're late. All because an asshole governor plays petty games.

If your profile's location is correct, you don't have a fucking clue what the impact of a closed bridge or gridlock traffic is. BTW, did you sign the petition asking to shift to Russian ownership?

Seriously . . . you may need a break or something.

Chill.

Not to worry..

But stupid human tricks like this have consequences. It shows a pattern of behavior and a culture of corruption within that group of people. Yes I know it happens... but personally I think this sort of thing needs to be rooted out with EXTREME preduidice.. no matter where or when it happens. >:(

Yes, personal attacks show maturity.

Sorry but I CAN have a discussion with someone I don't agree with without getting personal.

too bad it couldn't be with actual facts or understanding of the problem.

Your laughing at it, and dismissing those impacted, is offensive.

Your not realizing how crazy traffic can get in that area.
During rush hour losing just a single lane ( for whatever reason) can turn crossing that bridge and that area into a total nightmare.
Losing a single lane can turn a 3 mile stretch of road into a 3 hour drive.
On a good day, with all the lanes open it can take forever to get across that bridge.
Even a 10 minute lane closure will ruin any sort of traffic flow for hours before it rights itself again.
Once that area is locked up with traffic there are no secondary routes or short cuts that can be used. It becomes a mess everywhere so it's not as simple as calling for backup.

Then I'm sorry your so easily offended.

I'm not sure anyone is really offended, I think their just confounded that someone could be so arrogant on an issue that really is black and white. I would really suggest that you take some time and rethink your position that you would consider the traffic jam as being funny, I think that some here consider your lack of empathy as very disturbing.

BTW, nothing worse than an insincere apology.

I think that we all need to be a little less self righteous and admit that each of us has at more then one point laughed and went "dang " over something that someone else might be offended over.

As far as the apology it was meant sarcastically.

But I'll say it again. That a bridge closing would still get this much attention is amazing. There are bigger problems and far worse things that have happened that should be getting the attention this story does.

Do you think it might have something to with the title of the threads?

You did not have to come on here and post anything; it was your choice.

Time to take some ownership of what you post.
