actually, what I find very odd -

Prez's writers are giving him speeches where he is trying to connect by primarily talking about his emotional reaction to emergent issues ("I'm very upset", "I'm angry", etc etc etc).

Probably a good tactic considering the generally non-thinking and visceral, short term motivated populace of today.

My survival mode goes way, way back. It varies from time to time in intensity. Right now my intensity level is lower but more focused.

Democrat or Republican president, I don't think there is much of a difference anymore.

The world is not teetering on total chaos. It is teetering on 3.5 years of wonderful peace, then SHTF.

However, in America SHTF may come at any time. I believe I am in a relatively safe area if it occurs in my lifetime.
