The alleged shooter told deputies he was aware of firearms safety and had been taught never to play with guns. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Friends-thought-rifles-were-unloaded-in-deadly-accident-264673951.html More of those securely stored guns in the home by responsible gun owners. If Normiss's bank left cash lying around on the counter, with no security guards and just a cheap lock on the door, it seems he would be perfectly happy that they had secured his deposits properly. There are just so many FAILS to that families approach to firearms. What is worse as the second article points out is that the family is native American AND are avid hunters. The fact the boys did not clear the weapons first is a huge fail... I will not walk into a local gun shop that I used to purchase reloading equipment and supplies from and traded unneeded brass etc. with any longer because they handed me a weapon without the owner of all people, clearing a loaded weapon that was sitting on his rack of weapons for sale. When I got it in my grubby mits I immediately popped out the mag and then cleared it and out popped a loaded round onto his glass display case. I consider that a HUGE fail on so many levels. This family did like so many... kept loaded weapons where they were easily available... and it looks like the training consisted of DO NOT TOUCH FIREARMS. How many kids in how many families have had that level of training and had it fail them.
Amazon 7 #177 June 26, 2014 kallend***It's funny when you reaffirm my previous statements. As far as I can tell from your statements, you don't consider that anyone has any obligation to store anything (regardless of value or hazard) securely, and is totally blameless if it falls into the hands of criminals. Good job our military doesn't have that attitude about its nukes. Well truth be told.. they do "misplace" some of them every once in a while.
normiss 806 #178 June 26, 2014 Despite the fact I repeatedly said otherwise. Apparently you're still not smart enough to understand what a lock is nor it's intended purpose. Again, I apologize for giving you more credit than deserved. I'll try to remember that in the future.

A casual reading of the thread shows that it was YOU that chose to use bank security as an analogy for gun storage in the home.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
