The statistics I use are 100% accurate with respect to how I like to see them. I do agree with the need to stop illegal immigration, we need to stop the motivation for crossing the border, and I don't mean cutting food stamps and welfare. Living in California, the majority of them I have known are honest, hard working, and are willing to do any job to feed their families. We need a worker visa program or something similar. I actually found this picture to be disturbing; the "no words" meant I couldn't explain why. Aside from the usual crap of people making signs about other people needing to "SPEAK ENGLISH" while their signs demonstrate their own inability to spell. The medicare benefit has been asserted to be highly positive in return for all, but SS is anywhere from positive to negative depending on your income quintile. But those are still measured in simple dollars, with no accounting for opportunity cost or potential earnings with said money. I pay more to medicare than I (my firm and I collectively) do for my fairly expensive PPO plan in California. And I'll be doing that more years than I'll be retired. Even without calculating for 40 years of investment returns, it's already a bit of a struggle to see the positive return, and this amount of money invested would have sufficed to fund a fair (not good or great) retirement. It saddens me to think what my retirement balances would look like if the SS payments had been into individual accounts.
