It's not about defending a "poor innocent teenage boy." This is an extreme position. No doubt there are people who will insist that he was, indeed, a "poor innocent teenage boy."

On the other hand, there are people who will continue to defend the "kind gentle innocent police force."

Why is it that things are heated? Because of this kind of thing that makes lawyers say, "Come on, guys. You're taking this shit too far."

What's going on is in the middle. It's not the public's fault that police aren't trusted. The shock and awe method of policing should be rethunk.

Note to Billy: I had initially thought that the easing of tensions would be helpful. It turns out that I was wrong. The state police chief's methods provided some good but it was fleeting. The extreme good feelings are no better than militarized response.

Well, this is the first I've heard that the cop *did* have information about the convenience store robbery, and in fact he got the radio call while he had Brown in sight.

I will have to go back and re-read because what I read stated he was just telling the two to get off the street when Brown rushed the police vehicle

so getting past all the posturing in this thread about who is racist and which news sources are communist it basically comes down to:

1) the cop shot an innocent black kid that had his hands in the air and was not a threat

b) a big thug pushed the cop back in his car tried to take his gun, started to leave but turned around and rushed the cop and was shot

it seems there were several witnesses so with the FBI on the scene taking statements I think they should be able to piece it together despite the media circus

honestly I was on the fence when this first came out but after seeing the convenience store video it is not hard for me to believe the kid would attack a cop.

I also think it the particular officer had a history of abusing citizens it would be all over the news. Have not heard anything to that effect.

I think some people are just fed up with the way the cops treat them and interact with them.

I agree Mark but I also think they are faced with a society that has no respect for law enforcement and actually embrace the criminal lifestyle and are proud of it

now which came first?? it's the whole chicken or egg thing

when we were young we had a respect, or maybe it was a fear of the consequences from the law.
We did something wrong if we got caught we accepted the punishment due to us.

not so much in today's society we have large groups of young people bum rushing stores and stealing. Then they call it a protest and blame it on the police for some perceived abuses.

and we have police carrying military weapons and dressing like storm troopers riding in military vehicles.
