What is so evil about requiring id to vote?

Recommended Posts

In all the times I've been to the AT&T or Verizon store to adjust cell or data plans, I've never been asked for ID. You must look shifty.:)

:D:D

Well

That might be but they ask everyone

it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

***Methinks this is an example of the no-ID crowd being way over the top and not understanding their own position.

Or just one person who doesn't understand her job properly?

possibly - or more likely the trainers are so completely over sensitized to the issue that they didn't understand 'their' job properly. Or, the no-ID crowd actually is way over the top. Or thsi individual is trying to make a point or something, or...... whatever the reason, apparently nowhere in the that train of communication did common sense take over

honestly? the politically fanatical in this state make people like Quade and Rush look absolutely centrist. I imagine the reality is that the volunteers are purposefully trained to do exactly what she did, absolutely and conspicuously ignore any attempt to show an ID (I saw it in line 3 times - short line). Suspect the reason is worry that if someone (perhaps an elderly grandma, or someone that lives in a highly urban area ;)) sees an ID being used, they might all of the sudden feel "intimidated" about not having an ID themselves and just leave the polling place and not vote. Sensitive people like this typically vote left, and we wouldn't want to lose those votes. - the examples here are ridiculous and this type of thought process is highly present.....and our voter fraud may very well rival old time Chicago frankly

Sounds like the TSA agent that told me that because my boarding pass said "Elite Access" on it, I HAD to go in the elite line even though it was longer than the regular line. I insisted that Elite Access was a privilege not a requirement and she didn't want to hear it. I figured if I argued any more I would end up with a "highly invasive screening" and got in the longer Elite Access line just to avoid problems.

>I have to to give my drivers license ID to US cellular if I want to adjust my cell
>phone plan or before they will answer any questions for me

Wow, I can just call them or go online to do that. (Good reason to not use US Cellular in the future I guess.)

That sounds more like voting.

You have to do security verifications to vote?

Hi rush,

Quote

I have to to give my drivers license ID to US cellular

They are a private entity. Voting is controlled by the gov't. at some level.

US Cellular could require you to drop your drawers to see if you really are who you say. Their ballpark, their rules.

Voting is all together a different matter.

Yes it is
and voting rules are to be set by the states per the Constitution
Even for federal elections

Or just one person who doesn't understand her job properly?

it's a one or two day every other year job that people volunteer to do, so yes, it can certainly be a matter of some not doing the 'right' thing.

The package contains the ballot(s) and two envelopes. One is a 'secrecy' envelope that you put your ballot(s) into and seal. The 2nd is the mailing envelope that has ( I think ) some type of barcoding or similar. You must also sign the outer envelope; and that is compared to the signature that you have on file at the Registrar's office.

with half of Californians voting by mail, I find it hard to believe they attempt to do a signature check against millions of ballots. And are they all skilled at this? Or do we have computers doing the lifting?

Hell, my bank already distrusts me as I signed that card over a decade ago and non stop keyboard use has degraded my penmanship to functionally useless for the 3 checks I write per year to my dentist.

Ah, sorry to answer your question seriously. I know better, and in the future will answer in language you are more comfortable with.

Bill
I give the same here less the time lived at that address
If you feel that is enough security for your vote fine
It in not for me

BTW
I answered seriously
but I forget some people do not like being challenged[:/]

Right up until some of those state voting laws are unconstitutional.

True
The congress has the authority to also create law that controls some of the voting rules but not all. It has done some of this over the years

They are lying to you. I order to do that properly it would take years. Unless they are paying some min wage person to go yep, that looks like it says Jim, and not some autograph authentication expert or software.

So given those possibilities the one you chose was to extrapolate one person's job performance to an entire "crowd's" political understanding?

I thought you pretended not to go in for that sort of thing?;)
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I don't need to be an expert to know that a government agency cannot do that efficiently and in a timely manner. You say all voting is by mail in ballot. From the Oregon website it says that about 1.8 Million vote in the general elections. I dont honestly believe they are able to verify integrity of ballots by that alone is why I call bullshit on the fact that they check each one with one on file.

I hope that there is some barcode and registry system, and not just signatures.
