He fled the Revolution and found his way to the U.S. via Germany. Very intelligent, soft spoken and humble, and an outstanding all-state soccer player. He had no love for the assholes in charge over there. There are a lot of excellent Iranian scientists and engineers. A handful of them still live in Iran; the rest escaped.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
jclalor 12 #27 December 9, 2014 IagoThe Iranians love Western culture. They're just waiting for enough old hardliners to die off. That was my experience in Syria in 2007, they hated our government with a passion, but were thrilled beyond belief to be meeting an American. While in Aleppo, I remember a meeting jewelry shop owner, who once realized I was an american closed down his shop and took me to a back room to reveal his "big secret"... He was gay and had never told another person his whole life. Not sure what he wanted from me, but he seemed very relieved that he had finally told someone. Very interesting place. JerryBaumchen 1,439 #28 December 9, 2014 Hi John, Quote the rest escaped For many, many years I played volleyball with a couple of them. They both were pilots in the Shah's air force; woopsy, time to leave. They both worked for Intel in some type of design function. And both were really nice guys. It was intersting to talk to them during game breaks. Jerry Baumchen
