Its that the fact that he made the joke, followed by a comment that it would not hurt anything, then followed that comment about we will get out of it and advocated electing an actual DA who would not prosecute voter fraud. All while being a Mayor at an event for a State senator with your son present who is the Chief of Staff for that senator! Why would you put yourself, your sons, and your fellow politicians career on the line with a joke that had alot of thought put into it? Its because I believe it wasn't a joke. Its my opinion. Im not sticking to my guns because he is a dem its because he is a politician that fucked up, and I find it troubling that no one here from the left(but you) will condemn him joke or not. It sounded like a meeting where everyone agreed, and was on the same page, and things wouldn't be misunderstood, unless by "outsiders." Kind of like the guys at the firehouse or PD or military when women come in, or bubbas at a plant in the 1970's when the first black was hired, or a group of Spanish-speaking painters when the boss hires a Chinese dude. There are lots of inside jokes, that all of a sudden aren't funny. I've heard comedians say all kinds of things, like "what do you say to a woman with two black eyes? Nothing, you've already told here twice" followed by some comment about not liking battered women, you've always eaten them plain. Those jokes always come in pairs. I don't think it's funny, but I don't really think the guy beats women, either. If he's trying to be the head of a rape crisis coalition, I'd probably campaign against him. I think you should feel free to vote against the mayor, given that he's too stupid to figure on someone recording him. I don't have a dog in that district, but I'd consider that input in my vote. But no, he's not really advocating voting multiply. It's a joke; in part, it's a joke against the people who are all serious about multiple votes. And look, they fell for it. When he ended with the part about electing the DA and everyone cheered I realized he wasn't joking at all and he meant it. I think the people laughed at first because they thought the same also, or it was a nervous laugh. OMFG you guys are incredible. Even if you ignore the fact that the content alone is blatantly a joke, the tone of voice is exactly how you make a joke.
