QuoteCall it what you like. I know there's no violence inviolved but you can bet there's some serious intimidation on the part of the greenies.
Your own definition says the use of violence AND intimidation, not violence OR intimidation.
If the use of intimidation in the pursuit of political aims was terorism, then pretty much every PAC or lobbying group should be put on the terrorist watch list.
I don't want the word terrorism to be watered down to the point of being meaningless.

It is unfortunate, but think that the word "terrorism" should be expanded to mean other non-violent means. I look at it this way: the words "cyberwar" and "cyberterror" reflect the new reality. Knock out the communictions infrastructure and you can wreak havoc on a society, country or globe.
Imagine a Stuxnet that wiped out, for example, the servers and databases for banking. For example, WellsFargo and Bank of America get knocked out of business for a week. Consider the near stop to commerce that will occur. Good luck buying groceries or fuel or other things.
Or imagine one that knocks out power in the Northeast. During a cold snap. Not a per se act of violence but, oh boy, that would cause carnage.
And it would likely qualify as terrorism.

QuoteAnd it would likely qualify as terrorism.
Perhaps. As soon as the EPA starts doing that, you can call them terrorists.
And please don't reply that their regulations will have the same effect. They won't.

ibxJust a small reminder of what your country looked like before left environmental terrorism.

I also suggest you look at China if you are interested in the effects of unregulated industry.
perhaps then we should look at regulating china's coal-burning power plants before we start saying fracking is automatically bad. Oil produces no where near the smog coal plants do...

airdvrMore environmental terrorism from the left. Here in Ohio we're enjoying a robust economy because of fracking. Even Cuomo didn't want to stand too close to that decision. What a maroon.
Lol, Cuomo probbaly realizes that at current world oil prices there is no fracking in the US.
WHy do you think OPEC is refusing to cut production? Oil under $70 a barrel is sustainable for Kuwait, UAE and Qatar. Not sustainable for the rest of the world.
Basically OPEC has us bent over and is lubing up.

And it's not just oil. Natural gas as well. I don't know where you're from but it's pretty busy here in central Ohio. Lots of fracking happening here.

That article is from July. Not sure if you ahve followed the news in the last couple of weeks? But at under $60 a barrel all that oil you are extracting costs more to extract than to sell. It is the same in the Oil Sands in Alberta.
Have you given any thought as to why OPEC might not be willing to cut production at this point?
Question: how's OPEC's action affect domestic fracking operations for natural gas?

Indeed. They are playing with us but they can't let those prices remain for very long. Isn't it nice to have the Middle East reacting to us for a change?

is that a problem? if the theory that oil is a limited quantity and we are concerned we'll run out......
doesn't this put the western hemisphere in a long term advantage with the mid-east using up its supply in the near term?
(and for the enviro's there is less market pressure for drilling domestically, etc etc)

Cheap oil reduces the demand for gas.

Short term yes.
Long term....who knows.
Amazing how many of those photos are from 1990s or later. Can you tell the difference? It's not just a "looked like before."
It STILL looks like that. I'd argue not as bad or as often (I grew up there) but pictures don't really tell the story.
It was a LOT worse back in the 30's and 40's.
