It's about time.  This is the part of the article that just gets me:

"Maryland's Office of State Prosecutor and the city's ethics board have launched probes into whether any laws or ethics rules have been violated."

Uh... DUH!  (ethics rules).  You can't sell to, or solicit to sell to, an entity over which you have control.  I don't know the laws in Maryland, but if she is not forced to forfeit the profits from those sales, I'll be disgusted.

Jonathan Parker, the former chairman of the Idaho Republican Party, has been arrested on a felony first-degree stalking charge.

https://www.boisestatepublicradio.org/post/former-idaho-gop-chair-jonathan-parker-arrested-stalking-charge#stream/0

According to the complaint filed against Parker, he was “repeatedly hiding in bushes, masturbating, disguising himself with a wig”

You are 100% correct though.  If you are going to tout the adherence to a certain set of family values . . . walk the walk.

From the article:

DiGiorgio sent dick pics to a city council candidate and told her it was her "duty to the party" to send similar photos to him.  He even promised to "get you to [the] White House at some point."  Understandable, given who is in the White House now.

That seems like it should be attempted assault - he should be prosecuted.

Hey hey now!  It's fake news!  There's no proof.  She was ugly anyway.  Witch hunt.  He'd never send dick pics to an ugly woman like that, please!  All the women are lying.  He never even met her.  It's all liberal lies, mainstream media, bias, snowflake something something.  The Times is committing treason by running this story!  Trump won, deal with it!

So Chris Collins, a Republican congressman from New York, was arrested Wednesday and charged with fraud and insider trading. Nothing surprising there.

What is somewhat unusual is the position it puts the GOP in in NY. They want to get him off the ballot because, even for the GOP, it's tough to run a criminal in a congressional race. He wants off the ballot too. But the deadline for changing candidates has passed; he will be on the ballot per NY law. (He could, of course, resign if elected.)

So what to do? Here's where it gets somewhat amusing. There are a few legal loopholes he can use to get off the ballot. Specifically, there are four.

The least painful one is to accept nomination to a separate, different NY office. It can be almost anything, like town clerk. So there's a good chance that in the near future some poor NY clerk is going to get the boot so that this guy can get off the ballot.

The next option is moving out of state. It's certainly possible, although since it's so high profile it's likely that if he does it superficially (i.e. gets a PO box in Connecticut and claims he lives there) he will get busted for that. So he'd actually have to move in the next few months. Shouldn't be too big a problem, since he has several vacation homes in other states.

The next option is death; let's hope no one decides that's the easiest way out of this.

The final option is to be convicted of a serious crime. So a guilty plea would immediately get him tossed off the ballot, and the GOP could then replace him.

I can almost picture the conversations that the GOP is having with him right now. "Well, if you don't want to move, maybe pleading guilty is the best way to go. I mean, you'd get off with a light sentence, right? And we could all move forward."

Collins pleads guilty.

Favorite line from this story - his attorney called his smuggling and sale of the child "proper business practices."

Amid Scandal, Baltimore Mayor Takes Indefinite, Health-Related Leave

Just before she announced her leave of absence, The Baltimore Sun reported that health care giant Kaiser Permanente was seeking a contract to provide coverage to city employees and paid $114,000 to purchase some 20,000 copies of the books between 2015 to 2018.

"Under the deal with the medical system, UMMS paid Pugh $500,000 for copies of the books while she served on its board. UMMS paid $100,000 in each of five transactions in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018 to purchase 20,000 copies of her self-published books at $5 per book.

This is from back in May,  so it isn't really new, but it fits in here:

A former West Virginia official who lost her job in 2016 after she referred to then-first lady Michelle Obama as an “ape in heels” has been sentenced to 10 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to embezzling $18,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), funds that were intended to help flood victims.

Pamela Taylor, who served as the Clay County Development Corp. director, was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison and two months of house arrest, the local U.S. attorney’s office announced Thursday. She was also fined $10,000.

Taylor pleaded guilty in February to stealing more than $18,000 in relief benefits from the agency intended to help those whose homes were damaged by the 2016 floods that ravaged the state.

She claimed her house had been damaged and applied for benefits. Her house was not damaged.
