Congrats, you post about a democrat

Even though CBS leaves that out....

"Brown, a Democrat who represented the Florida district that included Jacksonville since 1993,"

from the story.

IMO a politician who steals from a charity is akin to a child molester.

And she is sentenced - 5 years:

Former GOP chairman found guilty of fraud for signing ex-wife's ballot
Former Colorado GOP Chairman Steve Curtis was found guilty of forgery and voter fraud on Thursday for signing his ex-wife's mail-in ballot for the 2016 general election, Denver's ABC affiliate reports.

Curtis filled out and signed the ballot under his ex-wife's name. The forgery charge for signing the ballot carries a maximum three-year prison sentence, while the separate misdemeanor charge could carry an 18-month sentence and a possible $5,000 fine.

Several threads this could go in, but I guess this is the most appropriate:

"And of course, reporters have access to only a subset of Trump’s false statements — the ones he makes publicly — so unless he never stretches the truth in private, his actual rate of lying is almost certainly higher....

That rate has been accelerating. Starting in early October, The Post’s tracking showed that Trump told a remarkable nine lies a day, outpacing even the biggest liars in our research. "

KY State rep Dan Johnson (R) committed suicide following accusations that he molested a friend of his daughter.

Seems an extreme reaction.

But Johnson had his own record of dubious claims.

He claimed he had healed the sick and raised the dead. He claimed he had set up "safe zones" in Los Angeles during the 1992 riots. He claimed he served as a White House chaplain under multiple presidents. He claimed he served as an ambassador to the United Nations. He claimed he set up a morgue and gave last rites to the dying in New York outside the collapsed World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

But in a seven-month investigation published Monday, the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting couldn't find evidence that Johnson's stories about himself were true.

What the small journalism nonprofit did find was "a trail of police records and court files, shattered lives and a flagrant disregard for truth."

How do Americans keep electing people like this?

Tradition, I suppose.

When you consider the assortment of rogues, scalawags and ne'er do wells that swarmed over this continent after Columbus 'discovered' it (Hey, I discovered Europe! Got off the plane and damn, there it was!), it is no surprise that we have been represented by people that, had they not been in elected office, they would have been in prison (or on the gallows, as the case may be).

In some cases we have elected people who were incarcerated during the election (see Mayor Curley et al.).

I have a tee shirt regarding the four stages of tequila.

1) I'm rich.

2) I'm good looking.

3) I'm bulletproof.

4) I'm invisible.

It seems this would apply to political office as well.

Winsor

And just look at what happened as a result of the allegation. Any republicans reading that should be mortified at how their own national leadership compares.:|

So unsure which existing thread to put all of Trump's efforts to screw over the populace, so this one seems fitting. It's not a gaffe, not Russher, not...well he's just trying to tear down everything in this country.
So for those that bought into his promises on the coal industry....
Cough, cough, hack, cough
He's doing his best to eliminate every single piece of protective legislation in place today.
Doomsday preparations might not be a bad idea soon.

And another:

"Brandon made people believe that he was a stand-up, morally correct person," said Hixon, who was married to the former lawmaker for 10 years until their divorce in 2016. "But behind the house walls, he would cheat on me and molested children."

The republicans have quite the crop of people in office these days. I'd like to thank them for their good work in revealing evangelical hypocrisy and helping relgion go the way of the dodo

You would think so. (editorial "you", not directed at you personally)

I would certainly like to think so.

But, unfortunately, the "true believers" will think that this is "fake news" and continue to support these idiots.

For sure. But every story like this just proves the party of family values
Is anything but..and may just swing people on the fence away from the party

We can only hope.

Personally, I will never vote for a Republican ever again.
And until recent years, when I've voted for a lot of 3rd party candidates, I've almost always voted "R" for national office elections.

I wasn't "on the fence", and I'm done with them.
