Show me all your friends in jail because of a wiretap caught you saying you were speeding on the interstate. Its all at this point useless to be freaking about like everyone here is doing. Watch it, monitor it, and at the point you see it getting out of hand then do something. Anvilbrother 0 #32 January 5, 2015 How is that any different that any person on the street taking pictures of where you go from a park bench, or with a dash cam following you in traffic? Fourth Amendment right requires two conditions, first, an actual expectation of privacy and second that the expectation is one that society as a whole recognizes as legitimate. You really think that driving down a public road and turning into a topless bar parking lot while driving your car with a visible license plate is an expectation of privacy? Gathering that info is legal. Blackmail, Extortion, etc is already illegal, so lets take care of those situations when it happens. Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. normiss 801 #33 January 5, 2015 In one of my daughter's case, it became cop harassment. Her boyfriend used to live in a poor section of town, with a few dealers on the street. After seeing her car on the video repeatedly, they started to pull her over and question why she was there CONSTANTLY, where are you going, a girl like you shouldn't be here, I KNOW you have drugs in the car, we saw you make a transaction, blah, de fucking blah. I'm proud of that girl. She didn't take that shit. She took it right to them and everyone in authority to stop the harassment. Dumb ass cop was reassigned, fired a few months later. What if it denies you the right to fly? What if the government thinks your financial transactions look odd—even if you've done nothing wrong—and freezes your accounts? What if the government doesn't protect your information with adequate security, and an identity thief obtains it and uses it to defraud you? Even if you have nothing to hide, the government can cause you a lot of harm.

Listen to yourselves, it looks like an episode of doomsday preppers! My point is that by the time you "see it getting out of hand" then you've already violated people's rights. By saying "if you've done nothing wrong..." you're really just saying, "Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be fine..." Also, See my post #19. It's completely healthy to be skeptical of any new tool that gives police probable cause to detain you or to search you or your things.

Im not seeing your point here, its a passive detector and does nothing till it detects a gunshot - there are no legitimate uses of a firearm in the city other than defensive. If I use my firearm I will want help there just as fast as they can get there... RoyThey say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it. billvon 2,998 #40 January 5, 2015 >How is that any different that any person on the street taking pictures of where you >go from a park bench, or with a dash cam following you in traffic? Because if the government does either one of those things it needs a warrant. With ubiquitous surveillance, it does not. They can record continuously, go fishing and decide later if they want to get a warrant. (That's if they want to make it into a court case - they might just decide to do a little snooping outside the normal channels.) In other words, there's a difference between sending a cop to tail you and just deciding to find out where a potential political opponent spends his dollar bills. Anvilbrother 0 #41 January 5, 2015 QuoteBecause if the government does either one of those things it needs a warrant. I think you need to recheck that. Cops do not need a warrant to take your picture or video you out in public. Hell a cop can dig through your trash can once its at the road if he wants to. Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. But such technology has a very high risk of being misused, and we are better off considering such misuse now than after it has happened.

I have so, so many better things to do. I'm a cynic, and a bit of an asshole, but I'm not a complete cunt edit: Also, that'd be a pretty pointless thing for me to do actually since it'd be at odds with one of the things that drives me crazy: a criminal record check only proves that a person was CONVICTED of a crime AND had it placed on their record, it's not proof they've never committed one. My whole point in the thread thus far is that given the complexity of the insane overregulation in our society, the only way you can be sure you haven't committed a crime is to actually read every single law on the books, which might not be technically impossible, but I very much doubt it's happened in our lives.cavete terrae.
