The USA executed Japanese war criminals after WWII for torturing POWS by waterboarding them.

The people who are responsible for the USA waterboarding POWs have yet to be arrested, tried, and convicted for their criminal acts. Half the population does not see their actions as illegal, despicable acts. Quite the contrary. The RWC media has convinced the sheeple that ShrubCo, et al, performed their crimes in morally defensible and legal manner.

The drift of the moral compass of the USA towards degeneracy is remarkable. Thanks to the Reich Wing Media machine, actions that are war crimes aren't war crimes when the USA commits the act. When done to our citizens, the acts are worthy of the death penalty. When done by the USA to citizens of other countries, the acts are acceptable ad OK.

Of course rules for you and I......but not them. They can still kill USA citizens and family with drones, take your property (eminent domain), take your money and redistribute your money to "their" causes (obamacare taxes, income taxes, gas taxes, federal inheritance taxes [now 50% was 0], etc.). And, they can legally do "insider trading" (which would put most in prison....Martha Stewart). Lie (which was actually put into a bill that was passed awhile back....paraphrasing,the government can legally lie to citizens without repercussions...),sorry I should be working, no time to goggle link).

In simpler times (yesteryear)," the do onto others as you would have them do onto you" was the "sort of moral standard". But IMO opinion, those standards go out the door when it comes to war. By "todays morals" my grandpa, dad, and hell, even myself (as well some other posters here) would be considered war criminals.

During training in how to glean information from prisoners, the first point made was that torture was counterproductive by any measure.

In 'Doctor Strangelove,' Group Captain Lionel Mandrake notes that, when tortured by the Japanese, they didn't seem to be interested in information but just rather enjoyed it.

Rommel's approach to getting information from captured officers was to invite them to dinner. Careful observation of their behavior often gave clues to key information that could prove useful.

Of course, any good game of chess has two sides. On at least one occasion Rommel observed officers who intentionally picked at their food even though they were famished, and was led to believe that a captured Italian officer had spilled the beans about German supply convoys, which were actually being sunk because the Brits were reading the Germans' mail.

Nevertheless, waterboarding simply told me that the prosecution of the war to bring Truth, Justice and the American Way to the sandbox was being handled by vicious morons. I have yet to be disabused of that notion.
