Measles Outbreak

.....

Cult has a very different definition in my book. That definition mostly revolves around the separation of the person from anyone who disagrees with the organization, breaking ties to things outside the organization, and generally a good deal of brainwashing, subtle or otherwise.

Sounds like the Democrats. :D

But, I wonder ...Does a previous measles infection, or even just an earlier exposure to measles, provide the same protection as vaccination? Some protection?

It's like the Space Shuttle Columbia. The math showed that the energy of the foam was capable of destroying the carbon carbon panel. But people's own subjective impression just wouldn't allow them to believe it. not until it was demonstrated did everyone finally accept it.

The brightest and best educated can be arrogant and dumb. And frequently are.

I don't know of any physicists or engineers who didn't believe it. The sad thing is that we give any weight at all to those who say "I'm not a scientist but...".

I guess when you have GOP House Members claiming that vaccines can cause mental retardation, this was bound to happen.

Always amazed that people wouldn't want to protect their kids from this.

I don't know I was old enough to go throught the era of kids being invited over to a friends house who had the chicken pox so they could get them and be done with it. I had them also, it's a right of passage, these pussified kids these days don't have to worry about it, and that's what's wrong with merica! Get off my lawn dammit!!!!

That's why engineering and MMACS didn't think it would be a problem.

At least the media has recent pandemic hype experience with Ebola last year.

Who wants to bet someone proposes a mandatory vaccine's bill?

Make them available for girls only and let opposition to it be called a war on women. Or opposition a war on children. Or call it an effort to combat climate change and anybody who opposes mandatory vaccines climate change deniers.

Just call me a cynical SOB.

They were. At least they used to be.

Mandatory that is.

Kids had to be vaccinated to attend school.
There were waivers, but they were pretty hard to get and required an actual, valid, medical reason.

And kids were safely vaccinated for decades before this bullshit about autism came up.

The problem with the old rule is it was a school requirement. Homeschool changed this so any new rule would have to impact ALL.

The other possibility is to make any parents that refuse vac for non medical reasons civilly and criminally liable for not only their children but ANY children they may have infected, such as this child:

A court in Connecticut just ordered a teenager to go through chemo.

:( Completely disagree with that. Cancer is not an infectious disease.

Here is a map of state compliance with the full complement of CDC-recommended vaccinations.
Really not much correlation with red/blue:

This is an any reason map. The one I was focused on was the lack of vaccinations for "personal belief." Those are the ones I thought told the story. There are some other reasons for not receiving vaccinations.

Which ones are not going to vaccinate kids due to personal belief is what this is mainly about. And in that category there is a bit of a riot toward the blue areas. There Are exceptions but I saw a fairly identifiable correlation.

Children simply do not have the capacity to understand life and death. By most accounts durring her court appearance, the Girl, along with her mom, knew very little about her condition and her treatment options.

And that refusal is putting whom other than her at risk?

Let's stop saving people from themselves and focus on saving other people from them. See my sigline. :)
You or your child want to do something others may consider stupid but is minimal to no risk to others not involved? Go for it, but be prepared to deal with the consequences without burdening others.

Should your actions or inactions put others at considerable risk that's when the authorities need to step in.

I've always considered a 90% chance of death a "considerable risk". If you want to go against all conventional medical advice, and in all probability die, knock yourself out, we as adults have the right to make terrible decisions.

But not kids... Give them the chance to at least grow up, as if 18 is really "grown up".

Here's a school by school PBE list for California. In the top 50 or more (least vaccinated), all are Christian, Waldorf, Montessori, or public charter schools. No Waldorf school has less then 33% personal belief exemption, and they range up to 87%. You can search, so find particular schools or counties.

aljazeera?

With apologies to Deniro, the question is begged.

IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?

Without having made a seriously detailed study, I have got the definite impression that Aljazeera has a rather better record of accuracy in reporting than Fox News (not that beating Fox News is anything to brag about).
