Andy9o8 2 #51 March 10, 2015 Quote Way to answer your own question. Yes, we may not have started out so great, but we keep getting better. The millions who have immigrated through Ellis Island and others who have came here legally very much love the American Flag. Since you're basically repeating yourself, so will I: Yes, but the millions who were kidnapped and forcibly "immigrated" via slave ships, as well as those millions who were already here and perished through genocide, did not. Sure, we're getting better; yet the devastating effects of over an additional century of lasting institutional racism continue to affect very many of their descendants to this day. Quote So the big question is why are you so scared of Americans having a symbol to unify behind? Does a unified country scare your liberal senses? And if not the American Flag, what would you suggest we get behind to unify us? The hatred of not being dependent on government? Hatred of those who will not bow down to our government overlords? Childish questions, childishly asked. Unworthy of a response by the grownups. Raise your game to post-pubescent level, or go play in the sandbox with the other rugrats. Boomerdog 0 #52 March 10, 2015 Well, I don't know if you were ever in the military, but there are many ways and many stories how to teach lessons and humble the self perceived mighty. I still correspond with two senior NCO's who taught me very well in my young officer days and who got so p.o'd at one young officer (not me), they convinced him to submit an official request to command a whorehouse in the Phillipines. It's a story the three of us still laugh our @$$es off to this day and the young officer got himself taught a very valuable lesson from a very different type of whup@$$ but whup@$$ nonetheless. rehmwa 2 #53 March 10, 2015 active duty, Navy vet I just see way too many tough forum jockeys posting 'whupass', 'they better watch out for home grown justice' etc etc etc comments - you know what they mean when they imply 'whoopass' it's silly - one group I'm never scared of is special forces types and many ex-military - they've learned self control and would never disrespect their training to 'lose it' and act all vigilante, those that would are just bullies or damaged, but not typical of servicemen that I've known. (good example - the "stolen valor" stuff. Vets will get right in their faces and yell and call a TON of attention to the offenders. But I've never read a single account of the offender being physically attacked. As it should be.) something think about when posting that way - it will never be taken the way you intended it. I sure didn't. On the other hand, I'll be sure to ask what someone means before jumping to conclusion as well.... ... At one point in my life I worked for an extremist, an Orange County evangelical. In his Flanders-like-world, there was pretty much no "curse" word that could be tolerated. Euphemisms were oddly acceptable. I say oddly, because in my mind if a person uses a euphemism, then the idea is communicated which is the same thing anyway.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

It makes no sense whatsoever to simply swap out a couple of letters if the average person can still tell what the word was meant to be. What's the purpose? If the idea is to block out the offensive word, then why not block it out entirely? Further, who the FUCK are they shielding the word from? If the reader can still determine what the word was supposed to be, then how is that any different than simply letting it pass altogether? Have we become a society protecting six-year-olds from content they could not possibly have an interest in or the ability to read to begin with?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Oh, I agree fully that it's stupid, anal, juvenile, controlling, and a lot of other things that I can't think of at the moment. They say that these are "family forums" and that they don't want to risk offending anyone, especially the advertisers. We, as Americans, tend to be really stupid about that sort of stuff. I was (and still am) amazed what gets edited out on the radio, and what doesn't. After the SuperBowl/Janet Jackson episode, the FCC either cracked down or simply threatened to. So songs got butchered. Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta" has a "God damn you" in the lyrics. (cut off my legs now I'm an amputee, God damn you") That gets chopped all the time. Didn't used to. But the Who's "Who Are You" gets to keep "Who the fuck are you?" in many markets. South Park was right."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Or maybe it doesn't say what you think it says or maybe you have a different one you've read then the one our founding fathers wrote?
