jclalor 12 #26 March 29, 2015 RonD1120In many respects I agree with you. In reading my morning devotion I found this statement by Oswald Chambers and thought I would pass it on. " If we are going to be ready for Jesus Christ, we have to stop being religious. In other words, we must stop using religion as if it were some kind of a lofty lifestyle— we must be spiritually real." Have you ever tried to reason with a Moonie or a Krishna? My shoulder is slowly getting better, 2 years post-surgery, so maybe I will be jumping tithing again soon. I've heard of that church. Aren't they the ones who have services every Sunday at 10 between 12 and 2? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

ryoder 1,590 #38 March 30, 2015 I have firsthand experience with mandatory church attendance. As a child, I was forced to go to church every week, sometimes as many a *three* times per week, (Sunday morning, Sunday evening, & Wednesday evening). And every summer I was forced to go to "Summer Bible School" for two weeks. The result: I was an atheist by the time I was 15yo. So based on my outcome, I highly recommend it! normiss 798 #39 March 30, 2015 Agreed. I have similar experience and just couldn't deal with conflicting fables anymore. They sure get upset when you ask questions. Andrea and I were having this discussion this weekend after seeing a family member post what a tortuous day they were planning for their teenage daughter yesterday. ALL day church, then home for Killing Jesus. I thought he was long dead. huh. Dammit. Missed the show too.

Religion is like a penis: If you have one and want to enjoy it, fine, but don't ram it down someone's throat when they're not interested in it. If your belief system says you shouldn't eat tangerines? Fine, don't eat tangerines. But don't try and take tangerines away from those of us who think your belief system is for morons. I, for one, have had enough of religious shitlords trying to push their belief system on others. I'm sick of them using their twisted fucking books to try and discriminate against other human beings. I still feel they should be able to practice whatever stupid set of superstitions they're gullible enough to subscribe to, as long as they're not trying to fuck over other people. Even if they're not, there's no effective difference between thinking that some bearded, inexplicably caucasian asswipe was the son of some sky fairy and the belief in Zeus, Thor, or Cthulhu. if I said that MH370 was hijacked by unicorns and minotaurs and taken to Charon so he can ferry more people across the Styx, I'd be ridiculed and rightly so. But bajillions of people think that some bro went full zombie and came back from the dead, and that they can eat crackers that turn into this zombie's flesh? Give me a fucking break.cavete terrae. I see no difference between what you are railing aganist religion does, and the stance of the US on most if not all US foreign policies. The US tends to think their form of government and market is the best and should be replicated around the world. It has been more than willing to use force, in some cases extreme force, to do so.
