Ah, so do you not think it is a good compromise?
Or is the liberal way of thinking appalled that it tried and was not able to force compliance of its wishes, in that, her name, specifically, is no longer associated with a document that represents something that goes against her religious beliefs?

Violating the law enacted by the state legislature is a "compromise"?
If the legislature amended the law, that would be a compromise.
If Obama made a decree that violated law enacted by Congress, would you call that a compromise?

Why don't we ever see this kind of pushback from you guys when Obama does the equivalent?

Or did you forget that he simply won't enforce the immigration laws as they stand?

Why don't we see you commenting about how people should just follow the law in this case?

The answer apareth to lieeth withinth.

Kentucky apparently.
If a clerk no longer certifies documents, what is their purpose?

There are many more documents that need certification. Surely one of these can be deemed unnecessary for certification.

Wasn't it you that said government should stay out of marriage anyway.
Now you get your wish and complain about it some more. I guess there really is no making a liberal happy.[:/]

I'm simply drawing y'alls attention to the obvious hypocrisy here.

It's okay to compromise the law when it is immigration and gun rights, but any adjustment in the need to have your name printed on a document . . . oh, you can't do THAT.

YOUR BIAS IS SHOWING.:D:D

Processes in government are important. Things don't just need to be done, they need to be done properly and legally.

She's not being forced to do anything but her fucking job. She wanted it, she has to do it. If she doesn't want to do it, she knows where the door is.

I wonder what level of sympathy you'd have for a Muslim working at a butchers who refused to handle anything with pig in it. How do you think that would go down?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I also don't think a Governor should think he has the legal authority to change state laws at his discretion.

"Governor Bevin’s executive action has added to the cloud of uncertainty that hangs over marriage licensing in Kentucky. The requirement that the county clerk’s name appear on marriage licenses is prescribed by Kentucky law and is not subject to unilateral change by the governor — conceded by the previous administration in court filings"

While the new Governor has frozen hiring and some spending, I wonder how much they will spend fighting this in court, again, all the way up to the Supremes even. Again.

Hi normiss,

Incorrect sir.

You beat me to it. Guess it is all about being three times zones ahead of me. ;)

But you probably should not have bothered because the 'non-liberals' like turtle really have little use for the facts. If he had wanted, he could have found the information that you found before he posted.

But . . . . . .

Yup, let it go. As long as licenses are issued only bad can come from rubbing people's faces into it and demanding a named signature.

When you win the war you need to be a little graceful to the losers. It will not serve anyone well to be small in victory.

I'm not sure I agree with the last part.

The first part was kinda what my point is.

At the moment it is a great stop gap until the issue can be sorted out legally.

Not really sure I am understanding your point.

You have always maintained that you feel that everybody should follow the law, regardless if they agree with said law.

Now this is no longer the case because other people don't think the same way you do? Or have you simply found something where you don't agree with the law and you don't have the same opinion anymore?

The idea I am pointing out is that all the left leaning people here were very much Ok for the law to not be enforced when it fits their view. Now all y'all are voicing the need to enforce this law.

I think it is a compromise until the law can be changed.

I think the bitch should be in jail.

I have always said that.

Funny though watching the bias show.

Except that is not what happened. You suggested a compromise. The reaction you are getting is because previously you have stated that you are not in favour of compromises and people should just follow the law.

When I say I hate beer and then suggest we go and drink beer, people will likely respond wondering why I now want to drink beer.

Yes.

The Governor of Kentucky is just looking for a way out of a political dilemma. The fight for the right of gays to marry is over.

The swamp has been drained, why do people need to pretend they are still up to their asses in alligators?

There are some people who aren't happy unless they can be seen as victims of said alligators.

Especially the parade throwing people.
