Suslique 0 #53 July 22, 2015 well i personally believe that the basics and principles of permaculture should not be underestimated and ignored. modern industrial agriculture left thousands of hectares of land dead in my homeland. we've been to a village couple of weeks ago where the soil is so badly damaged that earthworms disappeared completely. permaculture principles help to create a "farming" model which is: needs relatively less human input in the long run, truly green (especially compared to indus.ag. and its high petroleum input), it can be used almost in any climate, wide variety of food in one place all working in symbiosis does not require expensive equipment and machinery like industrial agriculture can be used to restore soil no pesticides or toxic chemicals are used etc 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' I do like permaculture a lot. It seems to be something that requires a decent amount of know how to sucessfully execute. I personally enjoy wiping my raised beds clean at the end of the season and then starting with a blank slate each growing season. I do have numerous permaculture style plantings though. tons of fruit trees, permaculture herb garden, blueberries as decorative shrubs, and a few other things. Suslique 0 #55 July 23, 2015 it is so flexible, i believe that you can rotate, switch and change certain crops depending on your preferences, without dramatically changing initial design. and the old veggie patch becomes a mulching material for a new one. nothing is wasted. wonderful!
