They might have appeared to be one side during the day... at night.. the black jammies were brought out for fun and games with those who did support us... the elders... teachers etc. would be found in the morning not having survived the fun and games in the middle of the night. It was very effective at getting rid of those people whose side we were on and a stark lesson to the rest of the hamlet or village of who not to get help from.
