Looks like he shot at a cop, and was then shot dead.

Dumbass.

Ya
And as the news is coming out, it does not appear, at this pont anyway, that the dumbass shot anyone

He slashed them with an axe!

But, it is very very very early in the reporting cycle

This is appalling, we need more axe laws!

Perp had been committed 4 times. Good job he didn't have a real gun, or he might have killed his victims instead of just inflicting minor injuries.

Reported late yesterday

He had an airsoft gun

Now, what laws would you propose? Do we need to ban hatchets too?

I'm pro gun rights, but are you really going to argue that a hatchet is as good a weapon for inflicting multiple woulds on multiple targets as a gun?

Guns are weapons, and they are good at what they do. If he had a gun, he probably would have been able to cause much more damage. Pretending that isn't true just makes you look silly.

Good job he didn't have a REAL gun - he might have killed someone.

It's certainly more difficult to cause as much damage with an ax as it is with a firearm if you're someone who is, in all likelihood, not fully aware of where you are or what you're doing. I have no qualms with firearm laws that would or may have prevented this guy from getting a gun or even from keeping guns if he already owned them. He had been committed multiple times.

But, as I've said before, I don't think there's an amount of crazy where the correct action is to simply make sure the person doesn't have guns.

To tout this event as a success of any kind of firearm law is as ridiculous as the notion that this guy was collected enough to have chosen the location because it was a "gun-free zone." But that's the state of the gun debate these days.

Cool! Another Weapons Free Zone Saves Lives.

Did not stop injuries however

And a gun ended his rampage too

I agree with all your points.

Sounds like the system worked.

Yes

It took a gun to stop a nut

I thought guns were inanimate objects who didn't do anything by themselves?

Good point

It took an armed individual to take him down

Looks like the system prevented him from buying a real gun what with his mental history... Don't know for sure yet.

It's usually better to prevent a problem from happening, it's generally cheaper than solving it. Depends on the likelihood of the problem, of course, but I'd rather have fewer armed nuts, rather than more armed (and untrained) guys hoping for an opportunity to be heroes.

So your contention is that it's cheaper and better to wait for problems to develop and solve them one at a time?

I guess you weren't in favor of mistake-proofing during your black belt training either.

So what's so bs about her post?

I've never understood the "armed society is a polite society" mentality. The only place where everyone is armed is in a war zone, not exactly noted for its safety.
