Prevailing winds are from the Northwest. So what happens is all the people in San Francisco driving their gas guzzlers simply send their emissions inland. They run into the Central Valley and the Sierras hold them in. It's bad here in Fresno, but it's worst down by Bakersfield and Specifically Oildale Add to that the amount of particulates put up by agriculture and we have lousy air here.
