Scientology?

Recommended Posts

I just got this on my porch last week, the silliest shit I've seen in a long time. I did read the whole thing just because I couldn't believe anyone would believe this stuff in 2015.

After reading the link, there's no doubt the story was a plant by the church. Not a single negative comment.

I'm surprised that skydivers haven't embraced Scientology. After reading the SC posts for over six years it seems to me that Hubbard would be spot on. Look at the principles of self-actualization, ego centered focus, narcissism, extra terrestrial life and evolution, they appear conceived for today's skydivers.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Are you saying, that in the entirety of the universe there is no other life? In any form?

Yes, I suppose there is a lot for skydivers there. But the problem would be that Scientology would want all their cash. And skydivers already are committed to spending it on gear and jumps!

I'll take the bait. IMHO, it is very likely some form of life (bacterial, single cell, multicell) exists elsewhere in the universe.

But if you believe there is intelligent extra terrestrial life, the burden of proof is on you, not me.
For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

heck - if you believe there is intelligent terrestrial life, the burden of proof is on.......(i'm stopping here, the parsing of the phrase might just backfire)

Not really, one could just believe it, have their opinion without a need to prove it to anybody...

Which is fine and dandy, as long as hose beliefs don't start wars as a byproduct.

You are correct. I am not harmed by other people believing in extraterrestrial intelligence. As of 1993, no government funding is used for the NASA SETI program. Prior to that, they were spending up to 2 million dollars a year looking for Little Green Men.

I am not harmed by people who believe Hitler, Elvis, the Easter Bunny, or Xenu are alive. Life is short, believe what you want.

Nah, the problem with scientology is that they want you to be doing scientology all the time. Skydivers have got DZs to go to!

Plus, skydivers don't need any ego massaging from scientology. All they need to do to feed the narcissistic urge is put up a video of a random jump on facebook and watch the likes roll in.

"Boston Legal" had fun with Scientology in 2006. This video is the whole episode, but set to start at the 10:00 point where the witness/plaintiff is on the stand. It gets good when James Spader begins the cross-examination:
