Donald Trump Versus Hillary Clinton

Recommended Posts

>the thought seems to apply to all 4 of these candidates

I think most Clinton voters aren't going to think twice. Her positions are pretty consistent with the democratic party and her voting records and opinions have been public for decades. Getting her in office means the same ol' same ol' to them. With Trump it's more like finding a rabid weasel in your house - sure, there are worse things, and he might never get a chance to cause any trouble, but you just don't know what he's going to do.

You have to admit it though, it will be fun to watch.

Fun to watch is what Two Broke Girls is for.

We're electing somebody who has the potential to destroy civilization. Thumb on the nuclear button and all that.

I will not be electing somebody to the highest office in the free world simply because I think he'd be the most entertaining buffoon.

To be honest, I think all of this started out as a joke and out of hand with the public much like Boaty McBoatface.

I don't think the button would be pushed.

So then what you're saying is . . . you trust Trump to do nothing if pressed by Putin?

Brilliant.

What ever happened to the idea of the 3 am phone call?

Do you seriously want Trump to be that guy?

Exactly as much as Obama, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, etc

Regardless of what you think of each of men listed above, go through military incidents of each one-by-one and ask yourself honestly, "would the world be a better or worse place if Trump had been in office at the time?

If you can honestly say it would have been better with Trump in office . . . I guess that's that.

I can't imagine Trump in any of the situations any of the previous Presidents had to be in command of.

We have been saved because key people hesitated to push the button before, or hesitated to call alarm when they got wrong signals.

It could have happend with the wrong people already, so why not take the chance. It will be a hell of a firework for a moment. Last moment.

>>>>What does that say?

>>That most posters here lean towards the right. But we knew that already.

>voters, not posters

Well, the requirement for people to vote on that poll is that they are registered on the site, not that they vote. (And most people who vote on polls also post in my experience.) So it really only speaks to how the people who come to SC lean.

>It pretty much shows that voters here don't care about the president, just the party..... the
>"other" party...... and how much they hate it.

I think that's been true for the past 30 years or so. One of the (potential) good things about Trump is they may cause some people who vote straight along party lines to think about whether or not that's always a good idea.

He is stirring things up that is for sure! One that note, did you read the stories about the pissed off Democrats in New York? Yep, they were mad at the closed primary which did not allow them to vote for Trump. Seems you are correct, he IS getting people to think about not voting straight party ticket.

I don't think you understand why New York Democrats would want to vote Trump in the primaries.

Ah, I know what you are thinking. that is not what they indicated in the interviews they gave.

but hey, no one is as smart as you think yourself to be:)
I cant wait to see what you tell me I do not understand next

I can think of two reasons:

1 - they either like him, or are really disenchanted with everyone else - quite a lot of Dems and Reps fit this category - too bad they don't find a nice libertarian to put this energy into

2 - they really don't like him and want to give Hillary more of a chance to win since she is slightly less despicable. And a known factor at least

I suspect it's a mix of both

you are dead to me

I didn't mean that I watched it. I meant it's the type of thing I imagine a lot of Trump voters would watch on a regular basis.

Better - No.

Acceptable - impossible to tell.

So all that is left is conjecture:

I do believe that Trump would have stopped this fiasco we have known as Obama Care and would have insisted on something that would have worked better.

I think the Iran Hostage scenario would have been handled similarly.

I don't think he would have been caught straying from his wife with an intern.

I don't think he would have gone into Iraq, at least not as deeply as we did.

I think Osama Bin Laden would have been found faster.

He would not have had Hillary Clinton as SoS, and that would have made a difference -

But who really knows - I think his job approval rating would have been in the middle to lower ranges of the average of all the presidents listed above.

He would have been terrific; really great. His ratings would have been through the roof! Nobody does better standoffs than him. I mean, how stupid are Americans that they wouldn't love that?

Considering things are rarely absolute, calling it a mix of both is pretty safe.

Considering Clinton won her home state with pretty decent numbers, the needle seems to head in a particular direction.

RNC shoots down proposal to let pesky delegates get uppity: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/rnc-shoots-down-giving-delegates-133646111.html

One delegate actually poked fun at the proposed rule: "Ironically, the RNC runs its meetings by Roberts rules of order," explained Gary Emineth, former RNC North Dakota RNC Chairman and unbound delegate from that state who is heading to the GOP convention in July. "The only time they don't is at the convention. It's an interesting contradiction."
