winsor 236 #51 June 14, 2016 ryoder Chris Hayes interview. Choose the video "Orlando man recognized gunman from gay dating apps": http://www.msnbc.com/all This kind of fits. Anytime someone gets all worked up about homosexuality, I begin to suspect that their concern is personal. If it does not cost me anything, my basic reaction is 'so what?' Getting into the gory details of one's sex life is Too Much Information, regardless of the particulars. "I'm not getting any." (Nothing I can/will do about it) "I find men attractive." (I'm not on the menu) "I want to find a woman." (Can't help you there, sport) "I'm a lesbian." (Me too, but I'm trapped in a man's body) Etc. Things gay are on a par with Lithuanian Folk Dancing from where I sit. It may be great for the participants, but is not of the slightest concern to me in an operational sense. "I've decided to get into Lithuanian Folk Dancing." "That's nice. Don't stub your toe." Anyhow, in the same sense that I raise an eyebrow when a televangelist gets worked up in a lather about one form of 'sin' or another, the fixation of Islam with homosexuality suggests that it is a real issue with those concerned. The Islamic angle in this case is most likely a red herring. He apparently claimed association with al Qaeda (Sunni) as well as Hezbollah (Shiite), so he was clueless on that count. He came from a seriously dysfunctional background that happened to be Islamic, but it appears that his demons were very personal. We have a tendency to overreact to horrific events, and the tendency to impose limitations across the board in the hope of putting a leash on fuckheads like this is a routine, and routinely ineffective, response. As I was waking up this morning, I heard part of an NPR interview with some official connected with the case who was expressing the same view. His ex-wife (whose family rescued her from him) is even calling him "mentally unstable". And this is from a former co-worker: http://www.wptv.com/news/region-st-lucie-county/i-saw-it-coming-former-co-worker-talks-about-omar-mateen"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. It's impossible to have any sort of adult discussion on this website/platform, which is why I don't come here much these days. Sons, daughters, girlfriends, boyfriends, friends, partners, have all died as a result of this attack. Yet you resort to republican v democrat, religious v non-religious, personal attacks. Sometimes I come here and see the same BS I witnessed at the drop zone, which makes me so glad I got out of skydiving. Y'all got some super inflated egos. I may only be 26, but I feel so much more mature than half of you sometimes. Grow up.

rushmc 23 #73 June 15, 2016 RonD1120 I honestly do not remember any conversations with friends where we discussed being at war with Islam. It was just understood. Don't you remember the saying at the time, "9/11 taught me all I need to know about Islam." I have been (for the most part) lurking this thread. One thing we have to remember. Those here who come from the left are angered and disappointed that this shooter was not a white supremacist tea party member who hated gays and who got his gun illegally. Because of this they feel they have been cheated out of political opportunity. AND Since this shooter was a non-white Muslim who spewed hatred for gays (which it is reported he was gay), blacks and non Muslims, he (and this incident) is now a threat to that very agenda the left wishes to push. So now we got the NAACP saying it is still the fault of white Christians who hate gays even though that group has no finger prints on this one at all!! (fucking ass holes)Along with a push to put an un-Constitutional gun purchase ban on those who are arbitrarily put on some list that has no due process to it at all, (Typical left move) while all the long spewing that the right wants to take away freedoms. Hypocrites! Along with other gun measures which the left even admits would not have stopped this slaughter. So my suggestion is to just sit back and watch the temper tantrums they are throwing, point your finger at them and laugh out loudI am."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." rushmc 23 #75 June 15, 2016 RonD1120 Thanks, that ^ definitely started my day with a laugh. You know, what I find interesting is the interviews with US Muslims about this guy and his (reportedly) being gay. They are saying that this guy would be the absolute most conflicted, self loathing a person could ever be because he was Muslim and he was gay. I do not think I could come to understand that level of confusion about ones self being. Such a tragedy all the way around. The other thing I find interesting is the stories about all the people, whites, blacks, Christians, non-Christians who should up a blood centers to donate. Does not seem to fit the narrative of a racist, homophobic bigoted country. Go figure"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
