yoink 321 #2 September 1, 2016 And here's me thinking this was going to be a thread either about abortion or right-to-die issues. Slightly confusing topic title there, Turtle! For others, the story is about the government spraying insecticide for mosquitoes in South Carolina to try and prevent the spread of zika. They fucked up and forgot to notify local bee owners causing massive damage to the bees in the area (and presumably to a shit tonne of other native insects that aren't being farmed?) I'd assume the local bee keepers will sue for restitution.

tkhayes 348 #6 September 4, 2016 funny how bees are important because scientists say they are...and it is SO obvious to everyone that they are important but when scientists say that global warming is important...it somehow is not and those scientists do not know what they are talking about nor is it important to so many. Just demonstrates how people just have belief structures, not based on facts, but based on whatever they choose to believe, but they spend far too much of their lives telling people about their belief structures, I can only assume to attempt to sway them (myself included) on useless internet forums welcome to the annoying and silly side of humanity. Can you find any where I deny that climate change is happening. (Other than a jest or joke?) I know climate change is happening, the climate changes. It is the nature of climate to change. I am skeptical about the the horror that the alarmists claim that will happen. I mean - isn't Manhattan supposed to be under water right now? But wait - they also said there would be a new ice age, right? The second dust bowl happened right? Antarctica is 100% ice free in the summer - and vast insect swarms are living there now, right?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

normiss 801 #11 September 5, 2016 It's been typical of local government spraying for skeeters to notify local bee keepers prior to spraying - which tells me there could at least be a risk. I'm not familiar with what protection the bee keepers use to keep them safe, but it's being reported that notification never went out for the new Zika spraying, resulting in what we're seeing in the news. Different gooberment departments maybe? Hopefully, we're all concerned with the bee population. Now, about the Everglades.....
