normiss 800 #54 February 6, 2017 I still get a little stunned every time a Trumpeteer has to bring up Clinton and/or Obama in Trump discussions, usually with anger. I get stunned a lot to say the least, it's rather laughable at this point.

Here I thought he did everything humanly and legally possible to ensure that they would never, ever be released.
jakee 1,489 #56 February 6, 2017 QuoteObama promised to release his scholastic records? No. That (as you well know) is one of the major differences between the two situations which make the comparison irrelevant. QuoteHere I thought he did everything humanly and legally possible to ensure that they would never, ever be released. That's a very odd way of saying he simply declined to consent to their release. In any case, same as pretty much any other president. Same as he promised to release his tax returns and did, like any other presidential candidate. Same as Trump promised to release his tax returns like any other presidential candidate. The only thing that is not the same is Donald Trump reneging on his promise and not releasing his returns.Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I'd guess that his records will be the subject of a court subpoena sooner or later. Dealing with conflict of interests in some of his legislation. How it works in the rest of the world. https://www.neweurope.eu/article/fillon-apologizes-hiring-wife-children/

winsor 236 #61 February 7, 2017 kallend A roundabout way of admitting that you made a false equivalence. So to repeat, Trump reneged on a promise he made many times over. The pitfall we have here is to consider anything that our Commander in Chief says as anything but stream of consciousness verbalizing. Think of it as 'Gonzo Politics' (with apologies to HST). The equivalence to which I pointed is that each occupant of the Oval Office had something to hide - though you are right, Obama never suggested that he was willing to provide documentation. In the case of Trump, I suspect that his returns would show that he's worth hundreds and hundreds of dollars less than he claims. Obama's records would likely show some kind of preferential treatment for having a negro in his family tree, or using his paternal country of origin for preferential treatment, or for getting a D in arithmetic and/or remedial science or whatever. Getting into Harvard or Med School requires a certain amount of brains, but is largely dependent upon focus and drive. I know physicians who, as undergrads, would never have taken the course load in math, science and engineering that I and my circle of friends considered normal, but ensured that they were never in a course in which they could not guarantee an A. Graduate courses as a Sophomore? I don't fucking think so. Obama can orate for hours and never say anything that means anything in particular (hope? change? wtf?). Trump, OTOH, says a lot of things that appear to have meaning but don't. Someone in politics that lies? Jesus, that's a shock.
kallend 2,027 #62 February 10, 2017 He also said (Nov 1, 2016) he would "IMMEDIATELY" repeal and replace Obamacare. Apparently "immediately" now means "maybe sometime next year". He also said (Dec 31) that he had a revelation about hacking: “And I know a lot about hacking. And hacking is a very hard thing to prove. So it could be somebody else. And I also know things that other people don’t know, and so they cannot be sure of the situation.” When asked what he knew that others did not, Mr. Trump demurred, saying only, “You’ll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday.” That didn't happen....
