yoink 321 #2601 May 7, 2018 billvon But banned? There's a list of things you can be banned for, and regurgitating mass-media sound bites isn't one of them. Persistent breaking of the dz.com rules is, and trolling is against those rules - in fact it's number 1 in the list. I'm sure I don't need to provide you a link. Trolling: Per his hotness: 'posting inflammatory material specifically to provoke a negative response'. Per you:'of course he's a troll'. Enforce the rules. Yes. And Speaker's Corner is a place where people go to specifically post things about politics, guns and religion. If it keeps such nonsense out of the topical forums (and it usually does) it's worth it. The traditional definition of a troll is someone who posts solely or primarily to sow rancor and discord in a community - and in the rest of DZ.com that's the definition we use. (And several people here have admitted to posting to do that, including the poster in question here.) However, here I use a somewhat tighter definition, one that includes intentional deception. Here's a good example of the tighter definition from Urban Dictionary: ======================= Trolling The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Trolling does not mean just making rude remarks: Shouting swear words at someone doesn't count as trolling; it's just flaming, and isn't funny. Spam isn't trolling either; it pisses people off, but it's lame. The most essential part of trolling is convincing your victim that either a) truly believe in what you are saying, no matter how outrageous, or b) give your victim malicious instructions, under the guise of help. Trolling requires deceiving; any trolling that doesn't involve deceiving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccessful troll. ======================== This means that a guy who really, honestly believes that the Earth is flat - and posts his beliefs - isn't a troll under that definition, even if he enjoys the rancor his posts create. The reason I make this distinction here is specifically because SC is intended as a place to post political (and often divisive) opinions. And someone might enjoy the discord that their posts create even though they are expressing their honest opinions on a topic. In those cases, I often let it slide - because while they my post inflammatory material, and enjoy the division it creates, it is not done with deception in mind. If a lot of people here have an issue with this interpretation, PM me and I will take it up with the other mods and/or Willem.

Care to expand on how it's 'more complex'? https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1621 And the impeachment was as much about politics as it was about 'finding of fact.' He paid a fairly large find ($90k) and had his law license suspended. Fat lot of good that did. The Clintons have never been hurting financially. They're well connected, and all the speaking fees around the world to bitch about Hillary's election loss doesn't hurt either.

rushmc 23 #2606 May 7, 2018 christelsabine ******The opinion of the justice department and the Supreme Court have been given into rulings over the years. A sitting president cannot be indicted on a criminal charge. The only way he can be removed from office is through impeachment! This was done purposely by the founders to ensure that what we're seeing today wouldn't happen. We have people within the government who have weaponized their departments against political differences. Nothing criminal has happened here! The left and you just can't stand to lose. And that's as sad as it gets! The spelling and grammar clearly indicate that this was not written by rushmc, nor was it in quotes or stated to be a quote. Who are you? I'll add Nixon, a former president whose presidency is pretty comparable: Nixon, 1972 - "I want you all to stonewall it, let them plead the Fifth Amendment, cover up, or anything else." Trump, 2016 - "You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?" Giuliani, on whether Trump will plead the 5th: "He's the president of the United States. If this forum is an exception to the general rules that govern the site then I'd prefer to have a more transparent conversation about it so that we can all have input bounced off each other. Maybe start a moderated thread and I'll put my thoughts in there?

I am of course referring to the investigation into serious allegations of illegal conduct by the president of the United States — that the president has engaged in a persistent pattern and practice of obstruction of justice. The allegations are grave, the investigation is legitimate and ascertaining the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the unqualified, unevasive truth is absolutely critical.” Sen. Mitch McConnell, R, KY., on the Senate floor. “I submit to my colleagues that if we have no truth and we have no justice, then we have no nation of laws. No public official, no president, no man or no woman is important enough to sacrifice the founding principles of our legal system.” Sen. Mitch McConnell, R, KY., on the Senate floor.
