I will gently remind some of you. Bill was asked to ban the troll. The answer was that he is not breaking the rules. The consensus was to mostly ignore him so that he would not have so much pleasure baiting us.

Like I recently told another poster. It's on you, not Marc.

Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Fortunately, there is now "ignore poster" functionality :)

Take your cue from FOX. Cohen is a convicted liar, Russia could have hacked trump Corporation e-mails to discredit trump personally. trump is not responsible for what Cohen says because Cohen "hardly ever worked for me".  The deep state could have fabricated those documents.

...Help me here Marc & Ron.

I just read the article on the Fox News website. Incredibly it doesn't state that this would amount to obstruction. It doesn't state that it is a crime, it really only reports on what Democrats are saying about it. There is very little explanation about what it all actually means. Incredibly poor journalism.

Not poor journalism. Reporting on what MSM is reporting saves them from criticizing their meal ticket. There is a old saying; "Never write a letter, save every letter you ever receive"

They have a agenda, a horse in the race so to speak. They will ride it till the end.

Agreed, which is poor journalism.

The reaction of the GOP is going to be telling today.

Trump's response is indeed interesting.  First he quoted FOX News: “Don’t forget, Michael Cohen has already been convicted of perjury and fraud, and as recently as this week, the Wall Street Journal has suggested that he may have stolen tens of thousands of dollars....”  So he attacks the witness, not understanding what the issue is.

Next:  "Lying to reduce his jail time! Watch father-in-law!" (i.e.  "Hey, I hear you have a father in law!  Watch what happens to him if you don't shut your big fat mouth!")

I don't think Trump really understands the whole "obstruction of justice" thing.

Without belaboring the point. I agree that its not good journalism. I would add that FOX doesn't employ journalists. They are a mouthpiece for trump, his base and the far right. Right being in the Rand Paul area of politics. He scores 100 on the Conservative Union rankings.

So if Trump knew that Cohen was a liar and a thief, why did he employ him for many years as his lawyer and fixer?

Possibly because he wanted his lawyer and fixer to steal and lie for him?  We know he only employs the best people at what they do.

Trump in April:  Cohen is "a fine person with a wonderful family" , a "businessman for his own account/lawyer, who I have always liked and respected."   Trump thinks that "most people will flip if the Government lets them out of trouble, even if it means lying or making up stories" but "I don't see Michael doing that despite the horrible Witch Hunt and the dishonest media."

Now that he has cooperated with the Justice Department, Cohen is a "scumbag" - and Trump is going after his stepfather.

Yah forgot "RAT".

Remember, Michael Cohen only became a “Rat” after the FBI did something which was absolutely unthinkable & unheard of until the Witch Hunt was illegally started. They BROKE INTO AN ATTORNEY’S OFFICE! Why didn’t they break into the DNC to get the Server, or Crooked’s office?

An obvious reply to trump's tweet. Is because a judge has to sign off on it. But for the trump base. Its just more meat and since trump's serving it, rotten meat.

Meanwhile in Russia. Pravda Which means "truth" in Russian. So you know its got to be true. trump has gotten dumped under the bus as well:

Watch 2 Fox news hosts try repeatedly over a 2:45 minute video to get WH Spokes-Liar to answer true/false over the allegation that Trump ordered Cohen to lie:

Well I stand corrected. FOX does have the odd journalist laying around who will ask tough questions!

Th senior editor of Buzzfeed was on CNBC this morning. Joe was grilling him because the same journalist had to retract a couple stories before. The senior editor stated that he had checked and verified the same sources himself.

Regardless of trump's denials. It seems clear that Cohen did lie to Congress. So if the lies didn't benefit himself and only acted to protect trump. The question becomes WHY? Cohen has a bit of a history of , how can we say it. Protecting himself with regards to trump's propensity to lie. In addition its alleged in the story that trump's other legal council helped concoct the lies at the base of said testimony.

Haha, it just keeps happening.

I honestly think all new politicians and spokespeople should be made to sit down and watch the Paxman "Did you threaten to overrule him?" interview on a loop for at least an hour. For some reason they all think they're special, that they're smart enough to do this dance of denying without committing to a denial and no-one will notice they haven't actually said anything concrete. In reality of course it's always glaringly obvious, and they always come out of it looking like just another slimy operator.

I've long thought that the idea of impeaching Trump was something of a fantasy of democrats, something unrealistic to rally the troops around a common cause.  But this report, if substantiated, could lead to the very real possibility of impeachment proceedings.  Directing one's lawyer to lie to Congress to cover up Trump's dealings with Russia is something of a perfect storm:

1) It strongly supports the idea that Trump needed to hide his dealings with Russia, and that he conspired with at least a few other people (Trump Jr, Cohen) to do it.   This is in addition to recent revelations that he had secret meetings with Putin right after the media discovered his son's meeting with a Russian agent - and then destroyed the notes from the meeting.

2) It puts the GOPers who support him at risk - because he is so closely tied to many GOP leaders that an obstruction of justice charge will tar them as well.

3) This time he lied to Congress, not the press or the public.  And Congress is where articles of impeachment are drafted.

I don't think any impeachment will have a chance of succeeding right now; the GOP, although beginning to fracture, will tend to rally if threatened with impeachment.  But consider what happens if this string of revelations continues, and we have ever more concrete evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians.  At some point GOP senators are going to be comparing the risks of breaking with Trump against the risks of losing a re-election bid to someone who merely needs to say "hey, I don't support that indicted liar."

So once again we have a fake news story  absolutely completely totally debunked by the special counsel. The news media and the anti-trump haters went crazy over this story ofthinking did we get them this time ?

I also find it funny that Cohen was so hated when he was trumps lawyer or fixer. And now the left, when they think that he was riding on Trump, became their favorite child.

I have to say Bill I was pleased to see your comments about thinking impeaching Trump was a longshot. Got a thank you for that.

As usual, Marc's reading comprehension has failed him. The special council's office said the report was inaccurate, not false. There is a difference.Marc and trump are like two naked sailors in the south Atlantic. A category five hurricane rages around them and all they cling to for flotation. Is a single packing peanut each.

Cohen lied about the Moscow Tower project and other matters when he testified to Congress. Those lies were solely for trump's benefit. As trump was under investigation for some time prior to this. Its only logical that coordination of everyone's stories would be made. Excepting the fact that the lies pour out of trumps mouth continuously..

Most likely the statement means that Mueller does not have strong proof that Trump ordered Cohen to lie.

Rudy Giuliani, an Italian, has one job for the WH. He gets out ahead of the bad news and scandals. Then paints them all with the same garlic paint brush. The brush that chefs use to put the garlic butter on bread and other foods. He attempts to diffuse, distract and flavor the arguments. In a way that garlic does to cooking.

Its similar to what lawyers do in court when they throw a whole series of unrelated, implausible theories at a jury. hoping that some of it sticks to sow doubt. It has proven effectiveness on less agile minds.

3) Obama did it first

Fixed it for you. An absolute predictable response for the trump gang of misfits, unconvicted-felons and supporters. It that the response is always lie, deny and cover up.

Giuliani said the most amazing thing in that video. Paraphrasing slightly:

"They were talking about the version of events that Michael Cohen gave that they believed was true, I believed was true. I still believe it may be true, because unlike the people that want to believe him, I believe michael Cohen is a serial liar."

Wow, um, what? Unlike people that want to believe Michael Cohen, Giuliani believes Michael Cohen. Giuliani believes Michael Cohen told the truth, because Giuliani knows that Michael Cohen lies all the time.

Pick the bones out of that onexD
