...Now that I'm typing this I have a genuine hypothetical question for Ron - if the Republicans were being unpatriotic or anti-american, would you vote democrat? What's more important - the team or the tribe?

You don't have to ask that hypothetically.

Ron has made it pretty clear that he supports the Rs and Trump.
And any criticism of them, or reports of 'unpatriotic' behavior is simply 'fake news.'

OTOH, he has also made it clear that the "socialist/communist/liberal" democrats are his 'enemy.'

I highly doubt you could convince him otherwise.

Hence my question - what if the republicans were being unpatriotic? could they ever be, or is being Republican being patriotic?

What if he had to choose? At what point do you choose your tribe over your team?

For some reason Republicans think they have patriotism cornered and that vision is something resembling a Lee Greenwood song, a box of sparklers and fad contemporary politics.

I don't believe 4 months counts as "soon" to DJT [:/]
"10 minutes from now" counts as "soon."
"When you piss me off" is a reason.

People who like Trump, and think he's doing the right thing -- do you really want a foreign and economic policy that looks only at the immediate anticipated reaction (and by "anticipated" I mean the one that fulfills all the prejudices of your belief set, not "thought through.") This is just as true of the reactionary liberals, but right now they're not in national power.

Trump is not king, and loyalty to the country is more important than loyalty to the individual president. I hope people remember that. And if you think that loyalty to the current president is important because he's president, how loyal were you to the last one? After all, he was president.

Wendy P.

The only people who think Trump is a some kind of king are those on the loony left!

Trump is more loyal to the US than Obama ever was!!!

Oh, piffle.

Trump wants to build the border wall to protect us from "Mexican Rapists." What did Obama do about immigration? (other than deport more illegals than previous administrations)

Trump wants to abandon the Iran deal to punish them for their nuclear ambitions. Obama paid them for the deal (well, it was actually money that belonged to them, but who cares about that)

Trump wants to ban Muslims from the US to protect us from 'terrorism'. Obama called Islam a "religion of peace" and said that the war on terror wasn't a war on Islam (oh, wait. That was Bush)

Trump supports and defends the KKK. Obama sure as hell didn't do that.

Ok. How so?

For one thing he hasn't gone all over the world apologizing. Second thing tariffs. 3 he got us out of the Paris climate change bullshit. For he's getting us out of the Iran nuclear crap. V the tax changes he's made. Those are 5 that easily come to mind.

I'm assuming you're using some sort of voice-to-text app that you dictate into and never review or edit. If we're not worth editing for, maybe we're not worth talking to at all.

1. Because nothing says you deserve the power like doubling down on whatever has been done in the past, and defining it as right. Of course, that only works if it's your guy. If the other guy doubles down, he's an asshole.

2. Tariffs. Because trade wars WORK, dammit. Apply pressure, stick is much better than carrot. Probably better for children, too [:/].

3. Yeah, right. Rush, even Koch Industries is starting to get on board with that pollution and conservation bullshit.

4. Iran nuclear -- refer back to stick being much better than carrot. And it's been so effective in the past, we've been using stick with Iran for almost 40 years. Going to war with them might sound cool, but refer to Iraq for the likely result of that.

5. Tax change. Because the more you starve the government, the more efficient it becomes. Just look at Kansas as a shining example of the great effects of reducing income to see what happens.

***It is a totally subjective debate Wendy. You and I don't agree.

So patriotism is subjective and based on your political leaning?

It is for you!

Ok, if it isn't for you, then why are you brining up political ideology to prove Trump is more patriotic than Obama?

By the way Wendy. The government has shown record revenues every month. How is that starving the government for money?

Excellent point. You hate Democrats and are OK with anything Republicans do; facts don't really matter. To you, it is all subjective.

There you go again. It's an emotional argument when you can't make an a point any other way.

There's hate out there Bill. But I don't think it's from my side or me. I think maybe you need to look in the mirror however!

It has only been 2.5 months. I think it will take a bit longer to see the actual total effect. Don't you?

Never debate economics with Rushmc, its a money loosing proposition. Its also based upon "subjective feelings". Real economics in contrast is fact based.

New Treasury Department numbers show that the US government racked up a $215 billion deficit in February -- the largest monthly deficit in six years.

It was also $23 billion higher than the deficit for the same month last year.

Last month, the federal government spent roughly $371 billion, up $7 billion from February 2017. Tax receipts, meanwhile, fell to $156 billion from $172 billion a year earlier.

U.S. February budget report shows first sign of wider deficits to come

“Between last [month’s] budget deal and December’s tax bill, the country is on a borrowing spree that will lead to the return of trillion-dollar deficits by next year and $2 trillion within a decade or so. We’ve taken fiscal recklessness to a new level and it’s time we begin our recovery,” Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

Your post is misleading. Many of you have claimed that it, the Trump tax plan, would reduce money to the government. That's not the case.

Spending is the issue. Not money coming in.
