Too bad this one exudes an air of hatred and >exclusion. Spicer said something today which made no sense: ============== He has deep respect for the 1st Amendment, for the role of the press. I've addressed this multiple times in the past. There's a healthy respect for the press . . The president will do what he's talked about since election night. It's through deed and action, talk about how we can unify this country and speak out against hate, anti-Semitism, racism and he's going to continue to do that. He will show you over the course of months and years through what he does in terms of his policies and his speech that he is going to be a president that brings people together, that unites them and speaks very, very forcefully against those who are seeking to do hate or to tear people down because of their religion or their gender, the color of their skin. Those are all things I think the president has done. ============== My first thought was "has Spicer ever actually met Trump?" But maybe that Trump charisma is sufficient to make even Spicer believe the above.
JerryBaumchen 1,364 #102 February 21, 2017 Hi Tri, Quote It seems he has one of those personalities that just wins people over in person, like he just exuded charisma. Back in '92 Clinton came to Portland, OR while campaigning for President. They had one of those behind the fence lines for spectators as he got off from his plane. Our secretary went down there. When she came back, she could not gush more about how charming he was.My biological father was married 13 times to 11 women; he was one charming man. sonnyblu 0 #103 February 22, 2017 wolfriverjoeWell, that sounds about typical for a Trump event. I don't know what I find more incredulous: The idea that Trump and his minions thought that having his wife read a prayer would make people think that they were actually religious The fact that it seems to have worked, at least for some of the more gullible ones. It's apparent that Trump supporters don't care about what he says, nor what he does. It doesn't matter whether he's religious or not, otherwise they wouldn't have dumped Cruz. I have never been to Church and heard such an uproar of cheers after reciting the Lord's prayer as I did for Melania. The "Blacks for Trump" signs in the background were a nice touch as well. If this was anything other than a sincere prayer, then it wasn't to pander to the right as much as it was to piss off the left. The only incredulous thing here is that the gullible left and their MSM minions fall for the distraction every time - Shiny object syndrome. . . What is it with this importance of pissing off the left? Is that what the GOP cares more about now? I have Republican friends who say "It's going to be a tough four years for the Left" and I see Dinesh D'Souza is doing a college tour with the theme of riling up the "snowlakes". The problem is that it looks like it's been more difficult for the right as Trump stumbles his way through appointments, Breitbart editors lose their jobs and GOP politicians cancel their town halls or ban attendees from bringing signs."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

sonnyblu 0 #107 February 22, 2017 DJL What is it with this importance of pissing off the left? I don't know if it's as important as it is easy. oh, and entertaining. DJLIs that what the GOP cares more about now? I'm not so sure about the GOP as a whole, but Trump might have a vested interest in it. DJLI have Republican friends who say "It's going to be a tough four years for the Left" and I see Dinesh D'Souza is doing a college tour with the theme of riling up the "snowlakes". The other day conservative TV host Greg Gutfeld said that as anti-religious as he is, the prayer didn't bother him - it pissed off the left, and that's always a good thing. It all goes back to what I said earlier about people having nothing better to do than get on each others nerves. They might as well make some money while they're at it. This is the biggest 24 hour reality TV show spanning across multiple networks simultaneously. There's a lot of money to be made in multi-media regardless of your flavor of politics. In the end however, it's all just a distraction.

It's more a view of Trump's relationship with the media and how the public gets caught up in speculation and petty arguments. For the most part, social media is just a form of entertainment. People don't really care about the issues they're arguing about as much as the argument itself.
kallend 2,027 #111 February 24, 2017 sonnyblu******Melania opens her speech with the Lord's Prayer. That is powerful and what a vast departure from the past first ladies. Her power is magnified by the silence of the MSM. https://www.rawstory.com/2017/02/melania-trump-recites-the-lords-prayer-then-assails-her-critics-in-florida-speech/ So it is being reported that she had to READ the prayer from a script. I'm an atheist and I can recite it from memory. She'd probably also have to read it if she said it in French, Italian or any other non-native language that she may speak. Do you think you'd be able to cite it perfectly in another language without writing it down? Can you even speak any other language? I'm surprised nobody criticized her for plagiarizing it yet. I guess that's an improvement. Well, having nothing better to do this afternoon, I decided to learn the prayer in French. Took me all of 10 minutes and I can now recite it without having to read it. Now, I don't think Ms. T. is stupid. I just think praying isn't (and hasn't ever been) part of her lifestyle, and it was just done for show. Pharisee syndrome.... Lawndarter 3 #113 February 28, 2017 RonD1120That may be, as he is now. But, he is an ex-Nazi that made money selling out his own people, the Jews, back in the day. Or so the story goes. Stipulated that you're not a very intelligent person, but he was 13 when the war ended. And a Hungarian Jew, fortunate enough to have been hidden by his father with a minor Hungarian functionary to escape being slaughtered by the Nazis. To suggest he was an "ex-Nazi" is ludicrous.
