That is a charge?

What a joke.

LOL. Sounds like one of those thing left over from the Old West. No politician is going to hang his career on overturning it but it seems like the the Justice branch should eliminate it.

Hi Sky,

I would think that it is. Here in Oregon a registered sex offended may not live within 1,000 ft of a school.

Yeah, there's a reason for keeping sexual predators away from schools. As far as churches are concerned are they worried that someone is going to get a prostitute and then go confess for forgiveness before the Lady's Auxillary can uninvite him from the Sunday picnic?

It's an archaic law which was used in the old days to make zones where people would be more afraid to break the law. The idea is that churches could be used to shoulder out prostitution. I guess you could call it a sin-free zone kind of like a gun-free zone and I think we all know the dead horse that debate becomes.

The 2nd paragraph of his Wikipedia page has so much winning in it:

Shortey has been married to his "high school sweetheart" since 2002. He studied at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City. He has been in office since 2010 and was endorsed by Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio for his anti-immigrant stance, and by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) for his "conservative principles". In 2012 he proposed a bill outlawing the use of aborted fetuses in food. Beth and Dog the Bounty Hunter hosted a rally for Shortey’s election in 2014. During the 2016 Republican Presidential Primary Shortey endorsed Donald Trump.

"During the 2016 Republican Presidential Primary Shortey endorsed Donald Trump."

He does seem to share his values. He just wasn't famous enough to get away with it.

Disagree:

"Charges could be filed Thursday against an Oklahoma state senator who police say was found with a teenage boy in a motel room in the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, according to a local prosecutor."

Don't you have a list of all the families values guys getting busted? Any chance of posting an updated version?

I don't keep a list but you might look here:

www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results;search_forum_id=35;search_string=scumbag%20politician;forum_id=35;search_user_username=;search_user_id=;search_time=;search_forum_type=forum;search_forum=forum_35;search_fields=sb;search_type=AND;page=3;sb=post_time;so=DESC;mh=25;

While there are a few (D)s there, it is remarkable how many (R)s there are.

There are still plenty of weird obscure laws on the books that are largely forgotten or just not enforced anymore.

Well, they seem to be enforcing it in this case.

There are laws against strip clubs or "adult" book stores "too close" to a church too.
And don't forget Sunday liquor sales or car sales (Wisconsin prohibits car dealers from operating on Sunday).

Kind of funny how many of the "Christian Conservative" crowd seems to be afraid of Sharia law, yet any time there's a suggestion to remove these types of laws from the books, there's opposition...

I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with Sharia Law if it was limited to prohibiting drugs and prostitution within 1000ft of a mosque, but it isn't.

Also, if you have a problem with laws that prevent you from looking at nudie magazines near a church, I doubt you're gonna like what Sharia has in store for you. . .

LOL.

Oh come on. If there was a law that legalized prostitution outside 1000ft of a church, I bet you guys would be all for it!

But then again, this would just be trick by those crafty christian conservatives. In the U.S, when are you ever 1000ft away from a church?
