The "Yeah I said it but only to get votes/ratings, I didn't really believe it" line seems to be pretty common with GOP politicians/mouthpieces. Shame the voters can't see through it.

Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Ron Johnson and Bill Cassidy say they will not vote for "skinny" Obamacare repeal unless they get assurances that it will not become law.

WTF would you vote for something if not intending for it to become law???:S

Plausible deniability.

"Yes, I voted for the law" (ka-ching, party money flows to their re-election) "but they PROMISED me that it wasn't for real, or I would NEVER have voted for this travesty!" (moderates think "this guy isn't so bad")

"If the people who wrote this bill were proud of it, they wouldn’t be forcing this vote in the dead of night." -- Mitch McConnell, 2009

It's looking like we're all about to get fucked.

Down goes the vote. Everyone in the Senate should be embarrassed that they even voted on such a half-assed piece of legislation, no matter what their views on the policy are.

Fiasco, brought to you by the GOP!

thehill.com/policy/healthcare/344268-senate-defeats-obamacare-repeal-measure

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) called it a “disaster” and a “fraud.”

Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) said “the only possible problem” with it is that the House might vote for it too.

And Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) wanted a guarantee that the House won’t turn around and pass it.

Judging by many things some of them have said there are more than 3 R Senators who know that the bill was just plain wrong. But in the end two women plus John McCain were the only ones willing to man up. Bravisimo!

McConnell blames dems

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/07/28/mcconnell-blames-democrats-healthcare-loss-241067

Utterly shameless. Complaining the dems didn't engage when they didn't get the bill out till the last minute, then wouldn't take questions or do any real debate. How exactly is ANYONE supposed to engage with that?

Video of the moment McCain voted. It is a bit hard to see since his back is to the camera, and he apparently walked to the front and got the attention of the guy recording the votes, instead of just waiting to be called.

Actually they called his name and he was not in the room so they kept moving down the list, he returned to the room and then did the thumbs down right in front of McConnell and then walked away. Earlier in the evening he had a group meeting with some Dems in the chamber and told them the sutation so it was not 100% unexpected but still a shock to most not in the know.

Just to note for anyone not checking the actual page, that's the New Yorker's Borowitz Report, which is satire. Yeah I know, hard to tell the difference these days.

For the latest conservative pundit attacking Obamacare who is actually ON Obamacare we have Toni Lahren -
============================
Tomi Lahren admits she benefits from Obamacare during Chelsea Handler debate at Politicon

Mary Bowerman, USA TODAY Network
Published 8:00 a.m. ET July 31, 2017

Outspoken conservative commentator Tomi Lahren admitted she still benefits from a feature of Obamacare while arguing against it during a debate with Chelsea Handler on Saturday.

Lahren and Handler faced off at Politicon, a non-partisan event, which features debates, panels, film, and comedy. As expected, Lahren and Handler's conversation turned towards the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

Lahren, who supports Trump, slammed Obamacare and told Handler that while she believes in her right to purchase healthcare, she doesn't "believe it's my right to pay for it for other people,"Fortune reported.

While Lahren continued to rail on Obamacare, she admitted that she is still on her parent's health insurance plan because of it.

"Do you have a healthcare plan or no?" Handler asked Lahren during the exchange, according to Fortune.

"Well luckily, I'm 24, so I am still on my parents'," Lahren said.

The comment quickly drew a response from the crowd, which cheered and clapped.

A key component of the Affordable Care Act is that dependent children can stay on a parent's plan until age 26.

Kudos to the republicans _and_ democrats who are starting to work together to fix the problems with Obamacare. They keep this up and we might just end up with a functioning government - despite Trump.

Senator announces bipartisan health care hearing on Obamacare

By Madison Park, CNN
Wed August 2, 2017

(CNN)Several Republican and Democrat lawmakers agree that Congress needs to prevent a collapse of the health insurance market, which could hurt millions of consumers -- and that concern has opened up some bipartisan dialogue.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tennessee, said the Senate health committee will hold bipartisan health care hearings on how to repair the individual market. In the House, a group of 40 lawmakers from both parties endorsed an outline of ideas aimed at making urgent fixes to Obamacare.

The step toward bipartisanship on health care comes as some Republicans consider an approach that diverges from the president's stance.

Wait a minute.

Hold hearings?
Openly discuss what may or should happen?
Solicit input from people who may actually know something about it?
Or be affected by it?

Heavens to Murgatroid!!!

We can't do that!!

It's how the legislative process is supposed to work.
