My belief is you are partly right. The second factor was Comey's stunt. And thirdly the Trump/Putin/Wikileaks conspiracy. But I think the first two were the main things.

Another explanation (or contributing factor) to the report of "low voter turnout" claims is that in fact, those voters registered in two districts actually only voted in one district, or the voters who died never had votes cast in their names.*

Example 1: Ivanka Trump was reported to be registered to vote in two states. She cast one legal vote in one of those states, while the other state reported that she did not vote at all.

Example 2: Prince Rogers Nelson was registered to vote in Minnesota. He unfortunately passed away before the election, and no vote was cast under his name.

I think if all the voter registrars do their thorough audits as they pledged to do after the November election, and the duplicate registrations and deceased citizens are removed from the rolls, we're going to see a noticeable rise in the percentage of registered voters contributing to the process. Not to mention, we can stop all those accusations of people voting illegally because of these duplicates and deceased persons on the rolls.

*I'm not saying it's going to go to 100% participation, but if the claims of duplicate registrations and deceased person registrations are so prevalent, then the percentage at the very least should rise once the rolls are cleaned up

Editorial in NY Times about Trump voters who are sticking even though they're not being helped.

Overall, it makes them sound like they understand what's happening, would prefer it were different, but still overall think he's better than the alternative. Kind of like how Hillary voters would have been had she won.

By and large people on both sides are forgetting that the people who think differently from them have what they consider to be valid reasons for thinking as they do. I might (and often do) disagree, but I really try not to bash too much. What's the point?

President Donald Trump on Tuesday talked with a room full of construction union members, and things got a little awkward for him when he started boasting about his big election victory.

Although much of Trump’s speech before the North America’s Building Trades Unions was well received, the president raised some hackles when he said that he and his campaign had “tremendous support” from “almost everybody in this room.”

According to Huffington Post reporter Igor Bobic, the commotion began when one audience member stood up and shouted “Nope, nope!” when Trump bragged about winning over their support.

It's really just a trivial matter, but has become a road just a little too far. Especially after SCOTUS ruled in favour of marriage equality. Part of the rightward swing in the election is a reaction to things happening too quickly for many.

I doubt most people on the right really care when it comes down to it. I think they cared more about how the left just had their way with them, shit all over their religion, falsely stereotyped them and then laughed in their face.

Anyway, when I talk to those on the right, their #1 complaint was how their health insurance for the same plan they had for years now costs more for less. One retiree said, hell I don't care if I pay more for insurance, but it's not as good and my 27 year old son is back in school and working part time as a mechanic, but was denied medicaid even though he should qualify now, so what the hell am I paying for?

The system isn't working as promised. If there was anything that happen too fast for people to process, it was AHC. But I also understand that something had to be done. Hopefully they get it fixed sooner rather than later - probably not gonna happen under Trump though, apparently.

The fault of the left (and the reason they lost the election) was not that they didn't engage in conversation; it's that they didn't follow Trump's lead and refer to republicans as rapists, criminals, liars and bigots at every opportunity.

It is an unfortunate lesson to learn, and will make us all poorer in the long run.

As an aside, it's interesting that they have such a hard time calling it Islamic extremism.

There was the "Kony 2012" movement to bring the christian leader of the LRA to justice. Many supporters of the movement were Christian. We had no problem calling him out for what he was. A Christian Terroirst piece of shit.
