rushmc 23 #51 May 12, 2017 SkyDekker Rush, why do you think Comey was fired? Because he kept breaking the rules. Hell, the Dems all wanted him fired not too long ago. That presser he did about Hilary was a joke. He compromised himself. Trump did the right thing and it has nothing to do with Russia. And there is no there, there, in this whole Russia thing. Still no evidence. Nothing, zero, nada. You all are being led around by the media who has become your nose ring."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." SkyDekker 1,465 #53 May 12, 2017 Why would Trump have said he was going to fire Comey regardless of any recommendation? I believe the reason Trump gave was that he was showboating and he had lost the trust of the FBI rank and file. However, that second part has been contracdicted by the acting director of the FBI himself. The same person who has stated that the investigation is significant. And I should add, that you yourself defended Comey for breaking the rules when he publicly spoke about new emails that had been found. So, your argument is that he was fired for breaking the rules and you agree that was the right thing, after you applauded him for breaking the rules? Phil1111 1,149 #54 May 12, 2017 tkhayes And with all the talk about what a shitty disorganized mess the FBI is (NBC interview yesterday), as Trump seems to claim, I expect that the insiders and lifers at the FBI will be more than happy to further investigate Trump, and quite possibly leak some more damning evidence. payback is a bitch Agree. Its the same as the WH and all the leaks that flood out of it like water down the Mississippi river. But its not as much payback as people that want to ensure that obstacles...obstruction of justice don't impede the truth. For certain this week Attorney General Jeff Sessions was disclosed to be a pandering, puppet of trump. Liar as well, but thats part of the protocol. SkyDekker 1,465 #55 May 12, 2017 I should add that I find it extremelyodd Trump himself would indicate that "this Russia thing" was on his mind while deciding to fire Comey. That comes extremely close to admitting to obstruction of justice.

kallend 2,027 #57 May 12, 2017 FIND the LIAR. In an interview with NBC's Lester Holt Thursday night, the President directly contradicted the reasoning his staff -- as well as Vice President Mike Pence -- had laid out for his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey. "I was going to fire Comey -- my decision," Trump told Holt. "There is no good time to do it, by the way. I was going to fire regardless of recommendation." That assertion came fewer than 18 hours after Pence was on Capitol Hill telling a totally different story. "The President took strong and decisive leadership here to put the safety and the security of the American people first by accepting the recommendation of the deputy attorney general to remove Director Comey as the head of the FBI," Pence said Wednesday. And he was far from the only one singing from that songbook -- which Trump promptly ripped up in his interview with Holt. "The President was presented with a pretty clear and direct and very strong recommendation by deputy Attorney General (Rod Rosenstein)," said White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. "The deputy made the recommendation, the president made a swift and decisive action and let Comey go." Then there was this from White House counselor Kellyanne Conway: "He acted decisively today, he took the recommendation of his Deputy Attorney General.... I would really ask everyone tonight to read Mr. Rosenstein's memo. This is what he presented to the Attorney General, he presented to the President and the President took decisive action."... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Phil1111 1,149 #64 May 12, 2017 WASHINGTON — Only seven days after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as president, James B. Comey has told associates, the F.B.I. director was summoned to the White House for a one-on-one dinner with the new commander in chief. The conversation that night in January, Mr. Comey now believes, was a harbinger of his downfall this week as head of the F.B.I., according to two people who have heard his account of the dinner. As they ate, the president and Mr. Comey made small talk about the election and the crowd sizes at Mr. Trump’s rallies. The president then turned the conversation to whether Mr. Comey would pledge his loyalty to him. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/11/us/politics/trump-comey-firing.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 Mr. Comey declined to make that pledge. Instead, Mr. Comey has recounted to others, he told Mr. Trump that he would always be honest with him, but that he was not “reliable” in the conventional political sense. Media reports about the run-up to Trump’s decision paint him as isolated and consumed by anger and paranoia, prompting questions from Trump allies about whose interests these government officials had in mind when they spoke to the press.... The conflict with Comey appears to have launched a new round of leaks from the Justice Department and the FBI. Citing sources close to Comey or lawmakers in touch with the FBI and DOJ, media outlets ran with stories about how Comey was fired because the administration felt the noose tightening on the Russia investigation.... “It’s image-making on the inside and people trying to protect themselves. There is a deep streak of paranoia among staff. The communications team shit the bed on the Comey firing and now the war with the FBI has them all scared and throwing each other under the bus. "Thank God I don’t work there. If I did, I’d be dialing up my attorney.” The behind-the-scenes stories that gripped Washington on Thursday were relayed to the press in the publications and news outlets Trump loves to hate — the New York Times and Washington Post. http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/333031-trumps-comey-firing-sets-off-new-round-of-leaks
