aphid 0 #251 May 18, 2017 billvonThe Washington Post effectively ended Nixon's career. But was that, overall, a good thing or a bad thing? I'm of the opinion that Nixon is responsible for his own downfall. All Woodward and Bernstein did was shine a light into the dark recesses of his presidency. I think that is what reputable journalists do. They help the citizens hold politicians accountable.
SkyDekker 1,465 #252 May 18, 2017 QuoteTrump has made a lot of mistakes, but I agree with him on this: No other president has suffered the scrutiny that he is being subjected to. I don't disagree. He frequently attacked the press during his campaign and continued to do so as President. Not sure why he would think hey would not fight back?
christelsabine 1 #253 May 18, 2017 rushmc Actually on many points I agree with you here. Most of my posts are meant to point out those shark jumpers who seem to believe everything rags like the Washington (com)Post print and run to hang Trump. I for one am willing to wait it out and see where the facts lead. So, for the Russia thing? I think it is fair to say there is nothing there. Since the Flynn leaks brought most of this to the forefront, any info that would have hung Trump would have also been leaked IMO. That has not happened. Now that someone is assigned to finish this off I think we will see it go away in a few months. The Comey and obstruction claim? Much to come out and much to learn. So for me, at this point I just don't know. The biggest ignored issue? Security leaks used to weaponize information politically. But as long as it is against Trump the media and the left do not care. As for Trump. I do not have the same view of him. Only history will prove which one of us was closer to the correct view of him. BTW, LOL means laugh out loud. That's all I can do with the crazy claims being made. Thanks for the nice reply! Wow, your ghostwriter took over again? Style, tone and textual display differ too much from your usual posts - it's remarkable! dudeist skydiver # 3105

I think you're wrong about this, many people on the left cared about this. Don't try to make it sound like Republicans are the only people who care about national security or have had government or military clearances, myself being one of them. This cliche of "the left" as whiny protesters with art degrees is just that, a cliche. There were full blown FBI investigations on Hillary that sank her as a candidate failing to drum up voters in an election against a self admitted sexual assault perpetrator and con-man. Someone who said he could kill someone in the middle of the street and his supporters wouldn't care. THAT is the guy she lost to because she not only could not muster the centrist votes but the Far Left (who does meet your cliche) said, "Fuck this lying bitch, I'm writing in Bernie Sanders." (Or voted for Jill Stein)"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

DJL 235 #257 May 18, 2017 QuoteI have not heard any main stream media talk about this and I have only heard one known Democrat talk about this. (Kucinich) You? Probably because I'm still tied into the news circle of my former Vermont residence. The far left did not like her at all, many I know said they didn't care that the result would be Trump, they would rather take a shot across the bow of the Democratic Party and vote third party. I think those who voted Johnson felt the same from the centrist perspective but would have gladly voted for Webb. I saw some articles showing the math that Hillary would have won if Stein voters went for her instead. That's still a big "if". They may have done what many other Democrats did which is simply stay home. Many people I know including me, voted for her despite how we felt about her. In the end I think she was simply careless and had an attitude of being above it all but don't think that her lapses (her staff's lapse) of computer security equate to an inability to perform her job as a President. You have to remember that at the same time the State Department servers WERE HACKED, as in actually hacked, yet nobody is hanging the State Department IT staff from the gallows."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

He has been treated more harshly than Lincoln, Kennedy, Mandela, and even Obama, whom he personally accused repeatedly and over a span of several years of not being a US citizen. More harshly than any previous politician in world history, in fact, including victims of the Inquisition and the French Revolution. Poor baby....
