rushmc 23 #27 May 16, 2017 billvon>You are right, you never know. And now we know - this week's scandal is Trump leaking highly classified intelligence to the Russians. Putin certainly got his money's worth. I think I will believe McMasters as opposed to an unnamed source who is quoted in a paper owned by a rich man who is at odds with Trump. billvon 3,006 #30 May 16, 2017 >Intentionaly and leaked? Yep. Giving a foreign power sensitive classified information without warning anyone in the US intelligence agencies is pretty much the definition of "leak." It's been fun watching the narrative evolve. Anonymous sources say that Trump revealed classified information to the Russians. The Washington Post reports it. The immediate White House reply - "it's a lie! He didn't leak anything." The next day Trump admits that in fact he did reveal that info and he had every right to do it. Then watch the talking heads scramble to fit Trump's latest revelation into the narrative. The new narrative - "the Washington Post story is false because, uh, he is actually authorized to leak that information." Which, of course, means the story is actually true. Can't wait to see what next week brings.

SkyDekker 1,465 #34 May 16, 2017 There was also a suggestion Comey should start thinking about jailing reporters who published classified information. But, that seems so minor compared to everything else. Plus I think Obama did that too. Right Rehmwa?

Phil1111 1,149 #37 May 17, 2017 Vladimir Putin Denies Trump Leak: 'Very Bad' Lavrov to Be 'Reprimanded' for Not Sharing Secrets With Me Complaining of 'political schizophrenia' in the U.S., Russia's Vladimir Putin laments Trump isn't being allowed to work properly .. Speaking at a news conference alongside Italy’s prime minister, Putin quipped that Lavrov had not passed what he said were the non-existent secrets onto him and said that Russia was ready to hand a transcript of the meeting over to U.S. lawmakers if that would help reassure them. "I spoke to him (Lavrov) today," said Putin with a smile. "I'll be forced to issue him with a reprimand because he did not share these secrets with us. Not with me, nor with representatives of Russia's intelligence services. It was very bad of him." http://www.haaretz.com/us-news/1.789810 There is no possibility that comedians can make this stuff up. The vodka must be flowing freely in the offices of the FSB for the last couple weeks. "Very Bad" are President Putin's exact words.
RonD1120 62 #38 May 17, 2017 yoink*** What is your plan if all your worst fantasies come true? I posed this question to yoink and he did not respond. Correction - you asked me what my worst fantasy was. That answer is far to personal to share with you. So no, I didn't respond. RonD1120 What is your worst fantasy? What do you think will happen? Is September 23 significant to you? I was referring to your worst fear of President Trump and his administration. If it is that personal and deeply felt I understand. I was adversely affected by the 8 years of Clinton and more so during the 8 years of BHO. For the latter I chose to use this forum as a therapeutic outlet. It was second only to prayer that allowed me to survive without serious consequence.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. The leak appeared in a Foreign Policy magazine article quoting anonymous U.S. officials that revealed Azerbaijan, which borders Iran, secretly provided Israel with airbases from which the Israeli military could strike Iran. yoink 321 #43 May 17, 2017 RonD1120 I was referring to your worst fear of President Trump and his administration. If it is that personal and deeply felt I understand. You should have worded your question a little more carefully then - As we're learning every day through the media the choice of words you use to communicate is a very powerful thing. The presidency of Trump doesn't even come close to my worst overall fears. My specific worst fear for this presidency is that Trump allows himself to be manipulated into some sort of catastrophic event based on a fit of pique. This might be military, economic or social. That absolutely should not be a fear one should have of their president, but the ego of this man is so fragile that I have to consider it a possibility. He is far too ready to act without thinking things through. 'Winging-it' is not a good trait for a world leader. There are other concerns of course, but that's the big one - The rise of nationalism and racism. The continued devolution of the electoral process into a media-circus. The precedent Trump is setting for future presidents to outright lie to their people and the complete lack of middle ground partisanship from the major political parties. This might be military, economic or social. My biggest fear is he will start a war over a Twitter insult or in-person slight. He has already shown himself to be very sensitive to personal comments. Much less of a fear is the cumulative damage he will do. He will, fortunately, not be able to undo much of the progress in rights for gays. But the damage he will do to the environment that may take decades to undo - the people who will die when he ends their healthcare - the loss of leadership and competitiveness from his attacks on science and energy development - all will hurt us in the long run. wmw999 2,459 #47 May 17, 2017 Sweetie, we're in more danger of SHTF now than we were, because now the previously marginalized people who are feeling empowered (right-wing white racists etc) actually have some power already, just not as much as they would like. So they can throw the shit at the fan a whole lot more effectively. As far as intellectual elites being useless, they come equipped with book learning, and the ability to read and understand those books. With information like how to plant, build, make fire, etc. Knowing how to kill people with guns isn't the most important thing (and it's not all that hard to shoot a gun). Knowing how to stay alive involves a lot more planting and sowing and butchering of animals than glorious self defense. And yeah, I know how to operate all the major tools effectively. And I won't spend my time telling people how much they suck as I do it. If, that is, SHTF. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Along those lines, Homeland Security recently issued a warning that they now see the "most serious" environment for homegrown terror threats since the 9/11 attacks. And that this is due in large part to white supremacist groups.
