Not to defend him but most people have no idea what politicians put up with in dealing with the public. Obviously he is a reporter just doing his job.

The complaints that people bring forth are stunning. This cop should be fired because he gave me a parking ticket. The grader operator is incompetent. There are potholes here. On and on. Obviously thats their job. Thats why they get paid the big bucks.

You need an attitude of patience to deal with public issues. Compassion might be helpful.

The reporter asked Gianforte if he had a response to the newly released Congressional Budget Office report on the American Health Care Act.

As to why? The reporter's paper did a piece on Gianforte's ties to Russian companies.

I'm not sure how Gianforte can validate this as proof that Jacobs is contentions towards him. Wuppity doo, he's a businessman who makes investements, a set of those investments are in funds of businesses that are now because of sanctions.

Though these facts are kind of telling:
-a majority (estimates vary) of votes were already cast before this incident, between early voting and absentee ballots.
-he still only barely won more than 50% of the vote (50.2%) -- even with all the votes that had already been cast before the assault was reported.

Gives me a little hope for the future of Montana.

Assault is assault. Defense against a viable thread of violence before the actual violence happens is a different matter.

There are a couple serious factors here.
- there was nothing really of substance to set the assault off. Really makes one question his anger management issues.

- he was a reporter, with a mike, in a public forum. Yet there was a complete lack of self control on behalf of the Congressman elect.

Supporters can look the other way, accept the apology and move on as though nothing happened. But the man is 56 and if thats all it takes there is something disconnected with his impulse control.
