Culture of Dishonesty

Recommended Posts

One of the good things to come out of the special investigation into Trump's collusion with Russia is that Trump's inner circle has realized that they can't get away with lying as easily any more. Because chances are if they lie, the special prosecutor will find out about it. Which is why we're seeing a flurry of "oh yeah I forgot to declare these 100 people I met with, sorry" "I forgot about this meeting with a Russian military intelligence officer who offered me dirt on Clinton, not my fault, could happen to anyone."

At the very least, the threat of prosecution and jail time is causing a bit more honesty within Trump's inner circle.

I believe President Trump is different. He is not a politician and he is just what America needs at this time. That is why we elected him. He is changing the status quo and I support him.

Hi John,

Quote

"Watching America lose its moral authority"

I am glad to see other world leaders finally come around to The King Has No Clothes On.

As I see it, you, many others on here & elsewhere, and I, prefer to take the moral high ground in everything that we do ( IMO at least we try to do so ). However, the Trump supports really only want their instant gratification. They seem to think that some 10-word comment/outburst will change the world; it will not. As mentioned elsewhere on this site, they only want to live ' . . . simple lives . . . ' without having to do much actual thinking.

OK, down of off my soap box.

From the article:

The complaint says Pruitt may have violated the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct when he told the Senate committee in January that he only used his attorney general’s email address to conduct official business.

But documents released by the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office through an Open Records Act lawsuit in Oklahoma indicate Pruitt also used a personal email address to conduct official business, seeming to contradict Pruitt’s sworn testimony, according to the complaint.

As quoted, there are two different ways to interpret that statement. He could be saying that he didn't conduct official business from personal accounts. He could also be saying that he didn't conduct personal business from his official account. More info needed.

Yeah, good point -- except for the paragraph that followed. The interpretation taken in the news story was that official business was only ever done via his work email.

>"Culture of Dishonesty" pretty much sums things up.

WaPo is keeping a running tally on Trump's false claims. In his first 181 days, he made 836 false or misleading claims - about 4.6 lies a day. (The Post uses the more politically correct term "fact-challenged politician" since he's something of a sensitive snowflake about such things.)

On the plus side, since he was inaugurated, there have been 10 days (not consecutive) where he made no false statements at all! So that's something Trump supporters can point to with pride.

Would those correspond with days he wasnt seen in public perchance?

Trump said he “would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done.”

“I would not be a President who took vacations,” he said. “I would not be a President that takes time off.”

During the campaign he said he’d be too busy to golf, having often bashed his predecessor for doing so.
