obelixtim 150 #1 February 29, 2012 Another jumper has passed on to the big DZ in the sky. Shirley was another Auckland jumper from back in the days..... Blue skies Shirley.....My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
jimp 1 #2 March 14, 2012 Sad news. Shirley was (also) very active in the Christchurch skydiving scene in the '60s. Newbies like me all looked up to her.
jimthefireman 0 #3 April 15, 2012 I remember my first cuttaway from a PC fore and aft with capewells. Deployed the chest mount reserve while face to earth and was feeling very disorganized after swinging back to smack my helmet on the runway at Whenuapai on landing. Shirley was the one to walk across to offer some comfort and support and it was appreciated. I jumped her custom made Russian PC fore and aft gear once or twice and considered it an honour to do so. She will be missed and had a bunch of people at her memorial in the park. Always a nice lady. I'm sure there were a few familiar faces, albeit a bit more grey about the temples. Hope you are well.My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
