Gawain 0 #52 August 2, 2003 QuoteQuote But seriously, you know that there are whackos on either side of the fence, as do Muenkel and TheAnvil. You guys know better than to treat this article as the average liberal voice. So true! Both sides are corrupt and horribly dishonest. There is some truth to the article. You guys realize bush is trying to get rid of overtime pay? I mean cmon! if that deosn't just speak to you guys then I dont know what would. I realize he is an extremist and I think that is who the article is speaking of, But in the end both sides are fucked, as well as americans! I'm sorry, (well, actually I'm not) but please, please, please share all the facts about what you're talking about. George W. Bush's item with over time has to do with giving employees the choice of receiving either overtime pay or compensation time (i.e. vacation) in lieu of OT pay. It was a primary point in his campaign tax-cut plan in 2000. I don't know if it passed or not, but it is a far cry from what you just cited above, and serves as a reason why it's worth checking multiple sources, such as http://www.issues2000.org/George_W__Bush_Labor_&_Farming.htm on this particular issue. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! TheAnvil 0 #55 August 4, 2003 John Poindexter? Sensational? Surely you jest. I don't like a lot of the work he's done recently at all. Ann and Rush are both sensational. This is true. And quite entertaining. Unfortunately Ann's sensationalism - and to an even greater extent her venom (especially in her latest book) - sometimes draws attention away from her arguments, which are normally quite good. Her last book was so venemous in some areas that the venom completely drowned out the points she was trying to make. Her points were quite pertinent and well thought out in many cases, but my God a thousand king cobras couldn't produce so much venom in a year. Good book, though. Worth reading for historical content alone. WRT defining the left, you're possibly correct. Judging by the tenor and content of their current crop of Presidential hopefuls, I think my point stands pretty well for the national party. The strength of liberalism and the left lies in their local and state ranks, where they actually do a lot of good for a lot of people. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
