phoenixlpr 0 #1 June 26, 2006 I had my first beach jump yesterday. Its a kind of easy place the multiple escape routes. It was not going as planned. It was some light wind, but none on the target area. I was coming from the lake, from the right. I was long, way too long. There is another group of trees on the left, So I was flying between that 2 group of trees and around the top of the right one. It was a really good lesson. phoenixlpr 0 #5 June 26, 2006 Hint: the lake is starting on the right side. The camera was looking to W-NW. Beach, spot on the middle.

mjosparky 4 #8 June 26, 2006 If you mean your spot was on the island in the middle, that is almost 1 sq. kilometer. That is huge. Your landing picture looks like you landed close to the Porta Potty. Makes is easy to duck in and change your shorts. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
mdrejhon 8 #9 June 26, 2006 I almost had an unexpected beach jump last week. It was a bigway jump, with the dropzone a few kilometers from the lake, but with strong winds blowing inwards from the lake, the jump run was placed closer to the lake. Bigway jump happened, and by coincidence, I had to track towards the lake for a full 10 seconds. As a result, the beach was well within easy reach of a landing pattern at 2000 feet (and I would still have reached it at 1000 feet over the same point). Instead, I opted to follow other jumpers to a farm field a kilometer inland for easier pickup.
Scrumpot 1 #10 June 26, 2006 QuoteI was long, way too long. Okay, why? Elaborate. Bad spot? Other canopy traffic? # on load? Your exit position compared to others? Anyone else further "out"? QuoteThere is another group of trees on the left, So I was flying between that 2 group of trees and around the top of the right one. Again, Why? ...Please explain. QuoteIt was a really good lesson. Okay. ...Please share what that lesson was. It doesn't seem to be posted! Thanks. And Blues! -Grantcoitus non circum - Moab Stone
