bamber 0 #1 November 14, 2017 How important is it to use a certified Master Rigger for a packed rig? What prompted this post is the school shown below uses non master riggers. Complete total failure to open seems serious, that is what happened there today. Today a rig completely failed to open at the school: http://www.wtsp.com/news/local/zephyrhills-pd-investigating-skydiving-death/491539780 This is the Master Rigger certification I am talking about: http://www.usapr.com/pages/courses/masterrigger.aspx

wolfriverjoe 1,523 #4 November 14, 2017 Well, first off, was it a student? The story you linked has no details at all. And for a mainstream media story to say the parachute "failed to open" is in no way whatsoever definitive. Second off, you might familiarize yourself with the rules for packing. There are different rules for mains and for reserves. Gonna guess that TK follows those rules at Z-hills. The story you linked has no info as to whether it was the main or reserve that "failed to open". You really have no clue, do you?"There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." piisfish 140 #5 November 14, 2017 wolfriverjoe You really have no clue, do you? wolfriverjoe 1,523 #6 November 14, 2017 piisfish *** You really have no clue, do you? IIRC Bamber was the one asking to do systematic water landings for students in order to reduce landing injuries And tandem static line jumps too. And it seems like the incident in the now deleted post was a "no pull". It's now in Incidents. Nothing whatsoever to do with packing."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
