wmw999 2,476 #2 July 5, 2018 That's. Really. Cool. Thanks for posting! Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
dEd 1 #3 July 6, 2018 Using the altitude and wind speed noted it is unlikely that this is the first man to jump through the jetstream. In fact, I would say dozens, if not hundreds have done it previously. Check out the book "The Man Who Rode Thunder," about an Air Force pilot who ejected into the jetstream circa late 1950s. This is a media stunt blown out of proportion to the actual accomplishment ... in other words, fake news. Let us not be gullible.
rmarshall234 14 #4 July 7, 2018 >Check out the book "The Man Who Rode Thunder," William H. Rankin. 1959. He ejected at 47,000 ft and experienced a 40 minute freefall/parachute ride that you find terrifying yet riveting. Check it out..
IJskonijn 45 #5 August 20, 2018 Yet I don't remember any mention of jetstream in that book. Big-ass thunderstorms, cumulonimbus and a side dish of hailstones, yes. But no jetstream unless my memory has really gone downhill...
